• Radical idea: Will someone who successfully and safely uses 2K post a tutorial?
  • Short answer. There isn't one. 2K is nasty dangerous stuff and while it looks wonderful on models, it requires all the gear....booth (with a strong fan), good booth filter, gloves.... for me its totally not worth it. *NM*

  • Years ago, like 45yrs ago my brother used the new urethane paints on the 1:1 51 Chev he was building, the instructions said it was cyanide based in some fashion & that the proper gear had to be used, AFAIK the 2K paints are basically the same, using the proper equipment

• Besides the AMT Caterpillar D8H bulldozer, does AMT (or any other company) make any other heavy equipment kits (1/24 or 1/25)? *NM*
  • Revell Germany made a kit of a huge open cut coal dragline in 1/200 or so, also Aoshima & another Japanese co. has done some including backhoes & frontend loaders etc but I think they are 1/32nd, AMT announced a 1/25 excavator & it was pictured in its catalog but never made. *NM*
  • Back in the last century Preiser did a 1/24 IHC Payloader in styrene...PIC INSIDE

      • Andy, the company is Preiser. Mostly LGB train accessories. I have the Payloader pictured but of course I can't locate it in my "STUFF". *NM*

  • Isn't the AMT 40' trailer from the 1970's, whereas the 53' is a much newer trailer, I'd think in the real world the longer one with greater capacity would be the more common, here in oz & think 48' is the limit. *NM*
    • Most of those I see on the roads these days are 53' but there are still many 40s in use. *NM*
  • if youre talking long haul/over the road , 53ft because of the extra cube.
  • Back in the day (1970s), each of the 50 states set their own length maximums. Of course, that was also in the heyday of COE trucks.

  • Thanks Marty. Certainly miss attending that show. The goal was to get there early to avoid the crowds. Did you know one of the judges was Fred Cady (the decal maker). Don't know if he still does it as I haven't seen him since we moved back to Washington State *NM*

  • I got a set in resin a while back... Don't know where they came from... They look really small in 1/25th... I'd be curious to know if the 3D printed ones have separate bezels and lenses. *NM*
    • They do have separate lenses, I know that much. I won't get them till Oct., so I won't be able to judge how good they are till then. *NM*
