  • I was at a local car show this past weekend, it was run in conjunction with a “family days” event, so, lots of kids there but few came to look at the cars, one group of three boys, maybe 12-14 , came toward me and my car, im thinking oh maybe they want look at it…one

    • ^THIS^ The young guns around here don't do "shows" in the conventional sense. They have "meets", organized at the drop of a hat through social media, where they arrange to gather at one location and drive to another (much like the original concept of what rod runs once were)
  • Interests change. When I was a young'un I'm sure that there were comments about the lack of interest in coin collector shows, stamp shows, fixing up old radios...

• I have one i think was sold through testors at the time. It has a metal hood and the base sucks the fumes down. Is there a way to have the fumes get pulled into a drum verses outside? *NM*

  • Know what? Just put a little dry brush wear along the edges of the doors where dirty hands would touch it getting in and out. Just a little black wash on the crane. It looks good just the way it is! BTW I did a Weaver crane in 1/25. In your scale? WOW! *NM*

• IPMS Contest in Arlington, TX today. One PIC and a link. Not a good auto turnout but I tried to get all the cars and most of the other models. Alot of them are multiple models in one picture but hopefuflly you will enjoy. *LINK*

    • The first one is definitely an accurate PPR. My dad had the civilian version of the same boat, built by Uniflite. His had twin 440 c.i. Chrysler Marine engines in it, while the Navy used diesels. It was supposedly "unsinkable" due to the fiberglas and foam construction. I'm

    • Revell (or somebody) did a version of the Swift Boat as well. *NM*
      • Revell and Tamiya both made fairly accurate models of the PBR, which is 31'. The "Swift Boat" your talking about is around 50'. Neither one looks anything like the photo in question. *NM*
      • With that hint I was able to find that kit, which was 1-72 and 1-48. It also let me find the mystery boat, South Vietnam navy RAG patrol boat kit picture. Still not certain of just how it was operated, though. *NM*

  • Almost forgot--trim pins before you install. Hard wire cutter can't get in that tight a space. *NM*
  • Very overlooked detail but really stands out . I have been doing this for years, especially on rusted or weathered bumpers . Most 1:1 will have stainless carriage bolts and these do not rust making them stand out . *NM*

• That black Satellite Sebring Plus is what I really wanted for my 1974 Mopar purchase...but you couldn't get the E58 360 hi=po in the SSP and comparably equipped the Road Runner was clearly less expensive. In the end, I made the right choice. Still, this car is sharp (note. *PIC*

    • The Lindberg Plymouth and Dodge look similar in many respects, but share no parts...
    • The longer wheelbase of the Dodge, compared to the Plymouth, didn't always mean the Dodgehad a longer frame. Former Chrysler engineer Patrick Bedard revealed in one of his columns in Car and Driver back in the '80s or '90s, that Chrysler would often use multiple holes...

  • Len, Wylde Parnell makes a 3d resin bench seat for the 72 Chevelle, Revell 77 Monte Carlo, and a split bench for the Revell 86 Monte Carlo, but that one would be 1/24. I have one and could measure it for you if that would help. *NM*

      • Pics. Seat backs have guide holes for pinning to seat bottom. Arm rest can be hinged and separate headrests.

  • The former Little Deuce? Revell did crank some of those out not long ago, but they weren't available in hobby shops or online. I've never seen stock hood panels for that kit *NM*

  • The uncle Frank had a ‘69 GTX. I remember how stiff the torsion bar suspension rode around town and on the highway. It was even stiffer than my other uncle’s, brand new at the time, 1984 Corvette Z51. *NM*
