• For those of you that participated in any 24 hour build. Did you paint the body first before anything else? Could you give a few pointers to in trying to complete a kit in 24 hours? *NM*
  • That's what I did, thinking it would need more time to cure. And I probably rushed it to get it done in one try, thinking I wouldn't have time to clear coat and polish, like I normally would. I used Tamiya spray so in retrospect, I could have taken more time and sprayed more
  • The two most important things are picking a relatively uncomplicated kit and then a plan of action. I always have painted the body first and have almost always finished! *NM*

  • Its taking water.........lol...........there used to be a 1:1 1964 Chev 4dr Sedan made into a ute in Sydney, Australia back in the 1970's, apparently it had been in a smash & became the panel shop delivery car.....dunno whatever happened to it. *NM*

  • Mostly like it. I think it needs to lose the S10 roof. Not sure what it needs, but it looks like an S10 with a body kit thrown on. Tailgate could definitely use a little forward slant. *NM*

• Long shot part request... I recently scored a pretty decent 62 Impala convertible annual built up... The only major issue is a missing hood... Any chance somebody could help me out with a replacement? *NM* *PIC*

    • A Fujimi Ferrari 330 P4.I thought it would be an "easy" kit to build in 24 hrs. I probably have 24 hrs in it but I did take time out to eat, sleep, and walk the dog! lol *NM*

          • I did not thin it, just screwed it on my airbrush and painted a test piece first. That looked good so I went for it! It's sprayed over Mr Hobby light gray rattlecan primer. *NM*
            • I also put a coat of MCW clear over the color. A couple of days later l polished it with Novus liquid polishing compound. *NM*

  • I think google is your friend. Search plastic suppliers near me. Most large urban centers should have something. *NM*
  • Any store that carries Tamiya's clear plastic sheet. It even comes in different thicknesses. *NM*
  • I just looked on Amazon's site. Type in Evergreen clear sheet. It is available in quite a few thicknesses. I use a super thin Evergreen sheet. *NM*

    • Yes and no. The kit comes with a whole lot of radiator core support type stuff molded in. I had to cut that out. Other than that it fits right in. *NM*

• Are there any hobby or OTC paint matches to the blue used on Toyota FJ Cruisers. I bought a kit last year, and I want to build a blue one.
  • The french blue looks pretty darn close to me. , , BTW, when I did my '70 Mustang I used that on it and found it 99.9% an exact match for Testors Ford Grabber blue in the bottle. *NM*

• I don't have to tell you guys because you all know, but you can make a pretty sweet race car by combining the MPC 67 GTO Weekend Warrior with the AMT Street Machine 67 Chevelle. (PIC)
  • Don't get too far into the painting before you fit the chrome - politely, a nightmare

• For MOPAR guys who know; what kits might have the two or four barrel 273 c.i. (4.5 L) engine? *NM*
  • Not an expert but any mopar 273/318/340 would look basically the same in 1/25th, exact differences like alternator,intake design & aircleaner might be noted,AFAIK only single 4 & 6pack intakes are kitted, no twin 4intakes, AMT 71 Duster 340 comes to mind. *NM*
    • The only thing that might be impossible to find would be 273 "Power Pak" valve covers and aircleaner. The 340 that comes in a MPC '71 Demon will give you the basics for a 273/318. You'll have to find pictures of the carbs and
      • air cleaner is not too hard to source. I wish my memory was better, but one of the old
  • What carbs are on the stock engine in the old Little Red Wagon kit?
    • Carb is molded as part of the intake (which itself isn't too great, but then again it doesn't need to be) *NM*
  • Is the soon to be released Round2 65 Barracuda a curbside or will it have an engine, if it does, I pretty much bet it will be this one. *NM*

    • Totally different. AMT '60 Starliner (windshield) and Deora (rear glass) are out too, the Hubley Fords are 1/24 scale *NM*

• The original version ('62 Corvair display item) didn't have the shroud either. AMT tooled separate carbs and added the turbo setup for the parts pack, but ignored the shroud *NM*
  • Daily dumb ask: Did anyone ever pop the '62-4 kit decklid to install this engine? Seems a shame that it would probably linger in junk boxes cos it is an excellent item
    • I have a built '62 with the engine installed. Unfortunately the engine lid and driver's door were cut open with what looks like a heated pocket knife *NM*

• Since I've never had either kit, let me ask some stupid questions: Why not just build the 1/24 Monogram kir instead? Or is it the exact same kit, or is it just as bad as the Revell? *NM*
  • The Monogram kit has really goofy proportions (too narrow, roof too tall). It's as if it is a mix of 1/24 and 1/25 scale, with some blockiness thrown in *NM*
    • I'm looking at the oversize roof as a transplant to the wierd as heck ARII Cadillac Eldo convert. Saw a lovely rendering of what a Cad--Mad would look like and would love to take a swing *NM*
      • I didn't think it that weird, yeh, its 1/24th but built well & looks the part , I would have preferred a 57 Eldo Saville, nearly bought a 1:1 yrs ago but I was too dumb to realise what it was....pink with green trim, fully optioned & RHD...yum. *NM*

  • Same here Howard. First used in '76 or '77 for me. A good pair of reading glasses really helps me when I apply foil. *NM*
  • The ultra bright stuff does not work well. It tends to curl once removed from the backing and does not take to curves well. The old standard BMF is still good stuff and polishes nicely. *NM*

• Does any of the AWB fans know if the commonly availabe resin '65 GTO AWB body wheelbase is similar or matching to the recentish F-85 or Chevelle?
  • Just grab one of the caramel color AMT/Ertl kits (cheap, if you haven't already got one) and do some slicing and dicing *NM*

  • Bare with me Lucky I can type without looking (vision issues but still can see within a foot). Answer to the question. A little off so I scraped my project and made my own. The resin I had was based for the "BRUTUS CAR" so you'd have have to make adjustments. *NM*
    • I ended up using the Chevelle chassis for my own bodies of the 65 GTO, 64 Olds, 66 Buick in the works and of course the Chevelle. I do have a 64 Chevelle in the works using the AWB 65. The body is done just have to get to it. *NM*
• Was the Lindberg "Dragster" with the Offy engine orginally an Indy car?
  • Offy, or Hisso? It probably didn't get changed, Lindberg never changed anything unless they absolutely had to (to fit different tires, eliminate electric motor, etc) *NM*
