• Question for kit historians, picked up a bagged Orange Crate, I believe it is kit 7126 from 1986 the Hot Rod Magazine one.............PIC's
  • Yours in the different color probably came out of one of the many two or three car sets that Revell was doing around the same time *NM*

  • That was indeed the Hot Rod magazine issue of the Orange Crate.... But those "vents" were actually supposed to serve as headlight pods. *NM*

    • AFAIK, because the hood tool was modified to include those headlight pods the reissue I built # 4162 from 1999 has a very flimsy resin hood included by Revell., kit is molded in white. *NM*

• 1968 Charger R/T 440 questions. What color did the factory paint the front and rear shocks? On a 4 speed car, what color is the bellhousing. Natural aluminum, or other natural metal or painted the same color as the engine? What color primer did they spray the bodies with? *NM*

    • Good Idea Rich, my main frustration is inconsistent lighting. Here's a couple of examples. *PIX*
      • Hardest to manage is flourescent, which the camera hates...
      • See if a local high or technical school has a beginners course in Adobe Photoshop. Make sure that includes - or focuses on - photo adjustment. What you've called "inconsistencies" can be corrected once you have the been educated on the tools to do so. *NM*

      • Jim,an interesting question,I've had my 1940 Dodge since 1971,hotrodded since 1973,notice I said hotrodded but I use the term hotrod & streetrod,to me the terms are interchangeable & mean the same thing tho' in the 80/90's some of the thought police derided the street rod ..

          • Pre-war cars with the fenders removed are definitely "Hot Rods". IMHO. Most all cars with fenders up to the eary '50s are "Street Rods" . IMHO. There is no well-defined "line" however. *NM*
        • When the National Street Rod Association was established in 1969, the cut off for Street Rod was 1948 or older. Street Machine was 1949 and newer.... NSRA has since evolved to a rolling cut off of 30 years.
    • Some would say independent suspension does it, others might say "cowl lamps" or "luggage rack" *NM*

  • I know it is a Ford but the four doors, bare wheels and non-stock(?) paint job makes me think if Elwood had instead bought a Ford cop car and had the black and white painted over the Blues Brothers may have had a different ride. ;^) Fun one! *NM*

    • I really liked the Green/White VW as well until I saw the "melon" or "popsicle" colored VW. That one just struck a chord. *NM*

  • Charlie, years ago someone on the internet sold diecast replacements for these exact tracks. I was too late to get them. Those kit tracks have kept me from completing the kit all this time. I have a couple kits. *NM*

    • Monogram made the GT Radial in two sizes--One slightly wider and taller than the other. The Boss '9 kit uses the smaller or the two for the stock version. *NM*

• BILL GOLDBACH: Fireball Model Works casts a Holley 4160. Would that be an acceptable replacement for the kit carb in Revell's '68 Dart GTS 440? *NM*
  • If you are trying to build a stock 440, they never used holleys. You need to find a Carter AVS. Good pics at the link. *NM* *LINK*

• Picture from Marty's Quad Cities NSRA album. Is this a '57 Ford Fairlane? The trim on the side looks different than what I see on the AMT '57 Ford Fairlane 500 boxart. Or is it a different trim level? *PIC*
  • Pretty sure that's just modified trim. It's a Fairlane 500. *NM*

    • The hardtop is on the longer wheelbase. I'm pretty certain there were only two variations...
