I love all the positive discussion surrounding the Modified Stocker line, by the way. So often they are caught up in negative posts grieving about what was lost in modifying these tools. Yet they have survived all these years and are still selling. Thanks for the posts! *NM*
The 69 Torino fastback kit........
I'll donate a Falcon to the cause... really an overlooked car *NM*
That would be great. My first car was a red '67 Falcon Sports Coupe. Parents also had a '67 Futura wagon that I often drove, and even put band gear in the back! *NM*
Interesting. Thanks! *NM*
And Home Alone came out in 1990, Star Trek and Batman in 1966, UFO in 1970, Star Wars in 1977.. Not really sure what your point is. *NM*
Young people on the phone screen are not driving what Round 2 are kitting out. Old farts are the primary customer of the Auto side of the business . I watch the Blues Bros at least yearly , I own a copy on DVD. *NM*
Exactly. This is a case where Round 2 knows exactly who their target market is. FWIW, I also have it on DVD… LOL *NM*
Fast and Furious didn't exactly set the.model kit world on fire *NM*
Too little, too late. The 80s and 90s generation were already sold out on video games and the time to have started tooling good domestic kits (read: big box available) of the Euro and Asian cars they wanted 1:1s of would have been years earlier *NM*
I wouldn't go all-in on that...both AMT and Revell issued kits connected with those movies, many of which were created because of them *NM*
That franchise has been grinding sequels for a generation
Another reminder of the 2 open, unbuilt '65s I parted with years ago. As soon as they were gone I was sorry I sold. *NM*
I agree! *NM*
For all the disrespect that these kits have received, "realistic" or not, I have yet to see a built one that doesn't just make me smile 😁
I built the Buick and the Olds several years ago. Not quite out-of-the-box. **PICS**
WOW! probably the best builds I've seen of those! *NM*
Thanks Crime Dog. I like your "boxart" model. Best thing about these kits is that you can build them any way you want to! *NM*
Sharp! *NM*
Those are great builds! I've only done one (the Skylark) years ago, but will be doing more. *PIC*
See, that is what I am talking about.... Realism be damned, those two just put a grin on my face *NM*
I can pile on to this one...
I like it! Around here they usually didn’t run the big cars but there were some low buck racers built from them. Lots more “run what ya brung” back in those days. So not out of the realm of possibility.
Someone once told be that the two I built were "too pretty". All I could say was that they were conceivably fresh out of the shop, and the car owners had a lot of pride in workmanship. Plus, I don't think I'd know how to build a model any other way.
Yours look like first day of the season cars, or the ones that toured the local car shows before the seasons started. There's no wrong answer, I like to build them both ways... fresh day 1 cars or mid season. Some teams kept them up, some just kept them running.
Depending on the track, they raced pretty much anything. I've got a CD of period photos from the track in my area, some guy ran a first-gen Buick Riviera *NM*
They are what they are. The alterations were probably done thinking "one more hit, then off to the scrap heap" but ironically, eight of the nine kits survive to this day *NM*
Could probably get to the GTO with scraps from the others
Eight of the nine…
The Torino was restored to stock too, but has been run as the Modified Stocker at least once since then *NM*
I was curious about that. I recall looking at one of the “newer” Torino bodies (about 10-15 yrs ago) and noting the shadow of the repaired wheel arches on the inside of the body. I figured that the Torino would never be released as the MS again, but there it was… *NM*
Read a rumor years ago that the Torino fastback actually has the sides of the AMT '68 Torino CONVERTIBLE tool in it now.
Wow, now there would be a good clone reissue candidate. *NM*
I'd look pretty hard at that - the stock Cobra fastback available now or recently is kinda 'meh' for the wheelwells in engraving and symmetry
Re: Eight of the nine… and the 53 Ford pickup and trailer. I'm only missing the GTO, 64 Galaxie, and the Chevelle, the "Shovelle" is on the shelf at the LHS, might nab it next week. *NM*
I don’t have the pickup/trailer in MS guise, but do have the Diamond In The Rough version. I have all the other MS versions except the GTO. *NM*
The GTO is an interesting one - the roll cage in the kit came from the '64 LeMans convert / GTO HT
The Olds didn't include any racing parts in the 3-in-1 versions; but rather stock, and two custom versions *NM*
