• Does anyone make a 273 for the '65 Barracuda from AMT? *NM*
  • AFAIK the only 273 was the IMC/Testors/Lindberg L700 truck tho' its not a great one,I'd use the engine bay & engine from the AMT 1971 Duster,its 4 barrel intake & 340 exhaust manifolds aren't correct for a 273 but its close,the 3 extra rockers per side are a bonus....lol. *NM*
• Saw the new Isaac Ford kit at a LHS last week. If the body was of JoHan origin, then why does the kit offer MPC's 'generic' stock car chaais?
  • The MPC NASCAR Torino body is different than the Jo-Han body. *NM*
  • The JoHan and AMT rebox are 100% different than the MPC kit.......KINDA...... *PIC*
• I have an original '70 AMX that only came with stock wheels and the "Lightning Bolt" reissue that has wiremag wheels but no spoked mags like Cragars. *NM*
  • The original kits only had one set of wheels, owing to the fact that the first version was done as a promo item and could only be built stock. The Round 2 reissue '70 has retooled stock wheels, and the wire mags (but no tires for those) *NM*
• There were a number of promos in 1:20 scale, both American and European. From early 1950s Plymouth wagons to Volvos. Several Hubley kits as well. *NM*

  • A fair number of Cragar S/S out there....only thing is, there's only two in each kit...
    • As long as I can land one, then I can cast as many as I need... just need that first example *NM*
      • Not sure what they were from (probably one of the show rods) but I landed a pair awhile back. They also fit the Plymouth Prowler rear tires that are used in the Wagon Rod and Phantom Vickie kits (with a little work) *NM*
  • Several years back AMT/ERTL did a series of 1/25 kits called Resto Rods that came with oversize wheels , I snagged a set from one for my MPC 1/20 Breedlove AMX build and they looked spot on for it size/scale wise *NM* *PIC*

  • I’m sure I’ve heard or read about it before, but my memory fails me, besides the obvious “ cuz they’re bigger” what was the reason for 1/20 scale cars in the first place, MPC did several back in the day as well *NM*
    • Higher price = more money per kit, box takes more space on store shelves (less space for competitors' products) *NM*
      • Back in the 70's I built a couple of the MPC 1/20 annual Vettes, that Dad brought home for me at different times... He thought they were really cool because of the working front suspensions. *NM*
        • They're pretty much the 1/25 scale kits made bigger. Not that that's a bad thing *NM*

• The '62 Fury Pro Street is really well done and with the period AMT El Camino graphics decals, totally out of the early 90s *NM*
• What's amazing is that not only is he building cleanly, but it's classic, literally the build could be out of Car Model in the '60s *NM*

  • I built the MPC Turbine in the late 60's, used the tapered nose as a race car tail in the 70's, lol, then got & built a New Zealand Toltoys issue of the Turbine in the 2000's, molded in white plastic it was like meeting an old friend, tyres & decals from the USA. *NM*

  • I'd love to see a reissue of the STP Indy Turbine Car too. My dad had a couple of those back when I was a kid. I got a rebuilder from my friend that I want to redo with Indycals. *NM*
    • Bob, as I mentioned I built a NZ Toltoys issue in 2022, it has no kit # on the box, molded in white,I used the Indycal decals which were great & got aftermarketvinyl/silicon(?) tyres & seat from a guy in the USA,had trouble working out the STP colour so went with Tamiya
