  • Never used that paint but 25-30psi seems way too high, I thinned paint to the consistency of milk & shot at 15-18psi,I'm no expert,this was using a cheap single action airbrush at about 10-12 inches from the model,mostly Humbrol & Testors enamels, tho' some lacquers also. *NM*
  • I pretty much agree....too much pressure for one thing. *NM*
  • About 20 psi max for me spraying Scale Finishes paint. *NM*
  • I'd back off that pressure and shoot some test spoons
  • Too much air pressure, not enough paint. Paint could still be too thick, even thoug it's pre-thinned. Solvents evaporate. . It should be like skim milk. *NM*
  • I shoot Scale Finishes at 15 - 18 psi. Goes on fine. (I'd switch to lacquer.) *NM*

  • Harts Parts does the Original Z-28 hood, not sure, but you can probably get the Revell 69 hood to fit with some work if you want the cowl induction.

    • I was working in Lansing when that snow hit...I don't remember it being a big deal. Hmmm...I do remember the 1973 St. Patrick's day storm...spent the night in a gymnasium in Albion after they shut I-94 and were bringing in stranded motorists on snowmobiles... *NM*

  • RS was a separate trim package. It could be ordered on a Z/28, SS, or other Camaro. When ordered on a Z or SS, you got the trim but the RS script was not used *NM*

          • MPC and Revell. The AMT kit is just re-pop of the MPC kit. The Revell kit has a beam front axle, which is wrong. *PIC*
            • Some (but not all) parts are still in the tool for 2WD
              • Is there an online resource where one could see the parts that made up the 2wd version? I want to convert an AMT "Sod Buster" to 2wd, and am wondering if there is some way to scratch up a 'close enough' equivalent so that it looks like a proper 2wd from 10 ft away... *NM*
                • All my stuff is buried, so no shots of the trees or anything. Maybe try Drastic Plastics for the instruction sheet and see what the assembly sequence was against a current kit?
                  • Thanks, that sounds like it is worth a go. I’m not thinking of doing a rivet counter special, but more like horseshoes and hand grenades. I had mused about possibly using MPC Dodge 2wd stuff, but a quick check showed too many differences to work. I’m not a truck guy,
                    • Side note: I just did a quick grok of a Revell ‘66 Chevy fleetside and noticed some nice A-arms on the sprues. Don’t know how close they would be, or if it would work at all, but food for thought. *NM*
                      • Yea, too bad there wasn't a kit of a vehicle that uses the same front suspension right down to the part numbers of the A-arms that's been reissued several times over the last few years. *NM*
                        • For me, I would only want to build a van factory stock, so sacrificing a kit solely for the front suspension means I’m tossing the rest in the corner (not into 4X4 vans either). However, a 4X4 ‘66 and a 2wd ‘81 works for me… for example.

            • I built a square body GMC made by Monogram. It was issued sometime in the late 1970's. I also built the Blazer from the same time period and the black and yellow step side. Attached is the history of Monogram square bodies. ..... *PICS* ..... *LINK*
        • Bob, there's pics of the parts on display from a show last year on the other board and the Blazer specific parts are indeed on separate sprues going as far as putting the Blazer interior panels, gas tank and frame rails on thier own sprue *NM*

    • And there you have it. Would be worth looking at one of the van kits for sure... and I'd be cool with a 4X4 van if that is what it came to - GM Fleet had a vendor that ran a current model 4X4 at Baja!
      • Where I’m at, now that I see how simplistic the parts were made and how easily they fit to the chassis, it should be no problem to find similar parts from a junker car that is already a parts car, and scratch the rest. When I’m looking at spending $50 plus 15% sales tax

• I'd say the problem is whoever did the box are model didn't realize it's not supposed to be body color below the trim with that particular set of moldings. Also, I've only seen the highet trim on cars with the R/S package. BUT, I'm no expert on these cars so?? . *NM* *PIC*
  • Looks like the boxart car had the chrome upper part of the lower bodyside moulding, but it appears that the lower trim piece that ran along the top of the rocker panel, but below the door, is missing. PICS
