• I've opened up and am looking through the AMT '68 Chevy Corvette Custom kit. There's a couple of pins on the top side of the chassis plate. What are they for? Right now they seem to be holding up the body/interior tub/chassis alignment. *PIC*

        • That's kinda hard to take from a guy who's parents wouldn't let him buy a car even if he paid for the whole thing...because his "grades might suffer". Well, ha ha, they suffered anyway! Then there was a guy in my class who got kicked out of school, so his parents bought him.
        • I was green with envy, but this guy was an outstanding student, pretty good athlete and a genuinely nice guy to pretty much everybody.... He's also still a car guy, with a couple of very nice 2nd gen Mustangs. *NM*

    • I talked to a guy who spent two weekends cutting holes in a Deuce frame with a hole saw. Weighed the cutout pieces afterwards...8 pounds! Would have better spent the time building a lighter chassis from scratch *NM*

    • Due to the age of the pic, tyres, etc I'd think it was a weight reducing diet tho' doubtful if it would have made much of a difference.....lol *NM*

• Here is the other suggestion for my 56 Chevy. Flat silver on the panel. PICs I am leaning for no panel or bumper.
  • Might I suggest getting the bumper as flush as possible, no pan, and trimming the trailing edges to be in line with the wheelwells. It would mirror the rear bumper's look *NM*
    • I'm having some fit issues that I still need to work out. *NM*
  • If you are considering not using the bumper anyway, maybe try a little surgery on it that you can repair with a chrome paint and eliminate the filler piece completely or at least narrow it a lot and "chrome" it. Maybe this would work... *PIC*
    • I should have refreshed the page before posting, ;^) I was just suggesting a way to push the bumper back with some minor surgery to the bumper. *NM*

• It's X-EL, and that's a good thing. It's made of non-warping plastic, and the plastic rivets aren't that hard to pry/pull out, much easier than the old metal ones. *NM*
  • Just need some heat from a 50W or better soldering iron and those metal pins come right out. Those plastic pins? I haven’t done them yet. *NM*
    • They just pry out easily. Start them with a small flat screwdriver and they pull right out. *NM*

• With Tamiya paint I've never had that happen or I may not have that critical eye. There are people that have the ability to see much smaller tint changes in colors than the average person. I have a friend like that and it drives him crazy. *NM*
