I have a bottle of TAMIYA Acrylic paint that is as hard as a rock. Any way to revitalize the paint? *NM*
I don't think so......I must admit I havn't used the Tamiya acrylics I have for a few yrs......lol.....might be time to check them.....lol.j *NM*
Nope. (Been there, tried that.) *NM*
Wonder how much longer before the BRE style Datsun pickup arrives *NM*
Wishing Revell would bring out their BRE datsun 510 as well *NM*
Count me in. *NM*
It's out now. Saw it on Saturday at a vendor table at the MCMA Showdown. Forgot to buy it, or maybe that vendor sold the ones he had. *NM*
I'm sorry you couldn't make it! It was a pretty good show, about 150 or so entries. Maybe next time, it would have been good to meet you. *NM*
We may have met at some point if you ever went to the Denver swap meets or the Goodguys show in Loveland !! Until recent times I was Lil John's Help at multiple swap meets ! *NM*
Take care of you Marty !!! There will be more Fridays in our future...I think ?!?! LOL !!! *NM*
POLL : How old is your paint !! I just came to the realization that I do not have a single jar of paint that is less than 20 years old !!.....
Nope.......I have some cans of Humbrol enamel that would be at least 40yrs old, some less than a year, some Tamiya Acrylic jars 20-25yrs,Tamiya enamel bottles 2yrs, Tamiya TS rattle cans 6mths -10yrs, Testors rattle cans 15yrs,Testors Boyd Bottles 10-20yrs. *NM*
Same here. I still have working cans of Pactra Pearlustre from 1962-ish, AMT lacquers (first, second, and third gen) from the early '60s to early '70s, and tins of Humbrol brush enamel as noted nearby. Of course, many no longer work but some still do! Amazing, yes? TBh *NM*
I wonder if Round 2 still has the formulas for the AMT spray paint? Now that would be a cool re-issue!!! *NM*
Re: I wonder if Round 2 still has the formulas for the AMT spray paint? Now that would be a cool re-issue!!!
IMO, the Tamiya sprays are probably the closest thing available. They even have a similar smell *NM*
Reformulation would be a must but getting those colors back would be great. *NM*
Matching colors is no problem at all. All you need is a sample. The pigment(s) have nothing to do with what solvents are in the formula. *NM*
One problem may be getting the look of the finely ground fish scales that are no longer used. *NM*
I have cans of spray paint dating back to the '80's when my dad was building and I was just cutting my teeth on a snap tite kit! LOL! Most of my Testors and Model Master bottled paints are from my late teenage years when I worked at Trains & Lanes Hobbies. Just the other day
Usually spray cans start leaking after 10 or more years. Testors is the most affected. You might want to start inspecting those! *NM*
The One Coat lacquer paints from Testors did leak after a number of years.......nearly ever one of them! But, all of my older Duplicolor, Plasticote, Tamiya, and old Testors enamel spray paints seem fine. *NM*
Don't know if it helped but I learned to store my Testors One Coat Lacquer cans upside down as I noticed early on that they were seeping out of the lower seam...when they are inverted they look OK but I am not 100% sure as I have not shot any in years ?? *NM*
I still have several Testors Model Master car colors that show no sign of leaking. The Dart fuel coupe that I recently finished was shot using a 15 year old can of MM Dark Bronze Metallic. *NM*
I have a couple of bottles of Pactra Hot Rod Primer from the mid to late 60's. *NM*
I still have a bottle or 2 of Testors brush paint with 15 cents on the cap. *NM*
These days they almost need a digital price readout so it can keep going up like the Millions Served on the McDonald's signs *NM*
As does most everything! LOL! Sorry for hijacking your post... *NM*
Same here. And it's still good! *NM*
Errmmghhrd - some is only a few months, some is nearly 50 years old
All that "skull and crossbones" stuff in those old enamel bottles and tins keeps them good. Stirred, not shaken (even a shaker doesn't quite do it) and keep them sealed *NM*
Re:I still have some of the Promodeler paint in bottles still unopened *NM*
Missed it !!! Had to work !!! BOO !!! *NM*
I'm trying to finish up a Revell '99 Silverado for a friend and I've run into a very noticeable issue.
Quick update: I VERY JUDICIOUSLY used a long thin straight blade screwdriver and I waa able to VERY carefully pry the interior partially off the frame so it sits much closer to even with the cab. I think I'm going to need to put in some spacers to keep them in place. *NM*
Glad you managed separation without destruction. Good luck with solving the alignment problem. Gonna be a nice one. *NM*
No Help, but comiserating - I feel your pain
Just let it be a learning experience and do another one. What was does not have to be what is. *NM*
Two words: Test fit!
Copied them on white decal film? So the purchaser has to cut around all of them? I'd be returning those decals to the seller, since that's basically impossible to do cleanly. *NM*
If there is a colored panel with white numbers or graphics on it, the color will be printed over the white. So now you are trying to match paint to the color on the decal. Not good *NM*
Hot off the presses! Showdown 2026 PICs. The doors closed only 29 minutes ago so the developing solution isn't even dry on these pictures. *LINK*
Looks like it was a decent turnout Terry !!! Thanks for sharing the pics !!! *NM*
You're welcome. It was a good day. *NM*
Wow. Great stuff and great pics of it! Thanks for sharing Terry. *NM*
You are very welcome. *NM*
Great show Terry. Thanks for all of your work to make it happen. *NM*
My pleasure, thank you for making me do this a few years back. *NM*
Your welcome Terry *NM*
Great stuff! Thanks for posting. *NM*
Of course, my pleasure. *NM*
That "Mike enjoys his hobby" diorama is a HOOT!!! *NM*
Someone needs to explain that one (to me anyways). *NM*
Frustrated builder gets one too many glue blobs on the glass and does his best Randy Johnson impression with his almost finished model. “Enjoying” the hobby as such. *NM*
O.K., I guess you'd have to be there to see the details. *NM*
Just a guess based upon the photo. Red-faced guy in a windup. I could be wrong, I often am.
I just put them in a box and forget about them! *NM*
Me too. I can appreciate the humour though. *NM*
There are 3 pictures of the diorama. The second one gives a better view of the model hitting the wall. *NM*
That’s great stuff! Thanks for sharing all these fantastic photos with us, Terry! *NM*
He said he built that almost 30 yrs ago. *NM*
Don Garlits museum tour..... *LINK*
Thank you Dave and thanks to Marc........unbelieveabl, what a wonderful museum.........thanks. *NM*
I've been there four times in the past 15 years. Always find something new. Great place. *NM*
Is anyone 3D printing a 1/25 Powell Sport Wagon? I'd be interested in getting one. TIA
Scan inside above post. *NM*
Okey Spaulding offers one in resin, under the Johan label..... *PIC*
Do you have any contact info for Okey? *NM*
I can't say as I do.... I've only ever dealt with him at model swap meets. *NM*
Rich, try this email address
[email protected]
*NM*
If you bash both the '72s and the S+H Torino you can get a pretty good replica depending on your inclination
Those old car ads are fun to see again. *NM*
All of the above Marty. *NM*
Back in the Hobby Heaven days Dean Milano had a fraudster use his photos in eBay listings. Watermarking might prevent this. *NM*
Wow...thats a name I hadn't heard for a while, I kept in touch with Dean for a while, even got one of his little card models still, his Model & Toy Museum was a neat thing....anyone know how he is? *NM*
Back in Dec. he had major heart surgery. He seems to be doing well. He is on Facebook. *NM*
I tried to find a way to contact him via faceplant but no go....if anyone can contact him pass on my best wishes & regards.........TIA. *NM*
On Facebook, just click on "Message". *NM*
For a while he was having a good time playing music. *NM*
I simply don't like to watermark my photos... It really detracts from an image's impact. *NM*
I hate it when archive sites stamp huge watermarks across the center. Renders the image almost unusable for reference. *NM*
Marty......main thing is to take care of yourself, we'll survive.....make sure you do Mate. *NM*
No worries. Take care of yourself. We will survive without it... I hope! Just kidding model building folks are tough. *NM*
Wow, a Chrysler Newport Enforcer--you don't see those very often. *NM*
Terry, I missed that at 1st, thought it was just a 4dr Chrysler, was it a specific separate model for law agencies, I suppose with heavy duty components, Oz Valiants had a similar Police car option list. *NM*
