  • Wow, that would allow me to build my bike, 51 Trumpy rigid frame, 58 Tbird pre unit, peanut tank, 6" over tubes but 2 into 1 exhaust, metalflake blue,16 &21" wheels...did the kit come with a scale oil puddle?....lol.....sold it in the late 70's when I was young & stupid. *NM*

  • Next time you correct the flares, file/sand them flush with the surrounding area. Then re-cut the wheel openings (add material in places if needed) then re-cut to the correct shape but larger by the thickness of the "new" flare material. Then...
    • My narrative is the same almost note for note...good advice for fixing wheelwell openings, period
      • I've got one Revell '62 (bought mainly for the dog dish caps) but might now take a swing at the wheel openings. I've had good luck finding original AMT '62 (and SMP '61) stuff cheap, I think I've got four '62 convertibles *NM*
  • In comparison to the real car, it seems to me the A post could have just a little more slant. JMHO!! *NM*
  • The Modelhaus body (lighter colored one) doesn't look half bad! I have always disliked the newer Revell body. I had plans on converting the newer AMT '62 Impala convertible to a hardtop using the AMT '62 Catalina roof.*PICS*

• AMT 1932 Ford Phaeton....was the last issue 2002? or has there been a newer release, also did AMT include the correct front bench seat?.....thanks. *NM*
  • My info says 2002 was the last issue of the AMT kit. There is a kit that NEEDS to be re-issued (with some improvements) or Revell could do one to add to their fleet of '32 Ford kits. Don't know about the seat. ) *NM*

    • The 1st issues of the kit has the correct front bench seat & phaeton length interior tub but AFAIK the orange hiboy & flat black fendered box art kits from 1989 & 2002 have the bucket seats & shorter interior tub from the 32 Vickie,wrong seats can be seen on both box arts. *NM*
      • Reason I'd like to see it again as the Oz guy that traded the 1:1 car to California's Dick Scritchfield for a 32 3W in 1966 wants to build a model of Scritch's car which AMT based their kit on,an Oz 1932 Frod Tourer,can tell its an Oz car by the lack of rear tub seams. *NM*
        • Earlier issue kits (known to have the correct parts) are out there, you should be able to locate one for not much more than those later issues. The Victoria can furnish chassis/engine and other parts if you find an incomplete or started phaeton *NM*
          • Cos someone has to ask: Ease of adding the Vicky or Phaeton bodies to the modern Revell '32s? *NM*
            • I've got a Vicky in progress for longer than I will admit...
            • I've seen a couple of conversions done using the Revell kits cowl onto the AMT body shell, look good but a bit of work tho'. *NM*

        • Interesting that you say that Dave,I have neither 1989 or 2002 kits now but had the 2002 in the shop & it had the seat issue,the 1989 kit box art pic on this site shows what appears to be bucket seats so I was going by that,I'll let my mate,Eddie Ford know what to look for. *NM*

• FWIW, I've discovered that Duplicolor engine enamel DE1635 semigloss black will spray onto bare plastic with no ill effects. Of course, I may be the last one to know this. *NM*

    • Agree on going easy with it, not loading with solvents *NM*
      • Newer sprays seem to have more solvents, less solids. Shake, shake, and shake again before spraying *NM*

  • Bending the center piece consistently will be the hardest part of the thing. I'd use a rim from another wheel, if you mess up you'll still have the original wheel as Plan B *NM*

    • First painted it with the Testors OD. Then Duplicolor chrome over the top. Used some light weathering from Tamiya to give it just a shade of off silver. *NM*

      • Okay... I guess you're seeing something that I'm not... Side by side comparison of my TN dragster chassis and the glue bombed remains of the Revellion chassis from my stash show no noticeable differences, other than the color of the plastic they w molded in.... *PIC*
        • The plated tree may have been different (I never had the Revellion kit)...
          • That was my thinking as well.... I also wonder if perhaps the rear end was lifted from the Dragster equipment Parts Pack (I've never had a complete example of that one), since Revell had already chopped it up for their other "funny car" kit at the time, the Miss Deal. *NM*
            • I'm thinking they just copied the original tree and made alterations as needed *NM*
            • The dragster pack had a quick change rear, with flat end plates and what looks like a "live axle" setup where the axle shafts are in the open *NM*
        • When I cracked my double kit, the chassis shot was a very different looking item than the Revellion - like Revell loaded two chassis into one shot
          • I believe the unplated parts were one shot, with each car's parts grouped on either side. Chrome trees were separate tools, sometimes molded in clear or translucent (leftover?) plastic *NM*
    • I bought a resin from A/FX Resin a number of years ago when Wendell was still around and I used a TN dragster for a perfect match. *NM*
      • Couple of years later Scott (Speed City) sent me a short shot 65 Dart so I fixed the short shot and used the Jr Dragster from TN to build a son's car (fake but makes the point) *NM*
