• Let me try this again, I got the " Barn Finds" decals from the '76 Caprice kit, I put them on the side of my ramp truck, then I was thinking of a build will theme, and this one came to mind. Awsome lyrics about a barn find.

• Getting ready for the East Coast Hobby Expo at Tweed Heads in July, bringing a few Drag models....AMT's Walts Puffer Fiat....what colour?...the web shows bright red, the kit box top is a deep maroon, anyone built the Double Dragster tin reissue?...what colour?...lol. *NM*
  • The 1:1 car is bright red, but then again the kit as-built is quite different from the 1:1 *NM*
    • Thanks Mark, yeh I know the kit is a simiplified version esp. the chassis, most of the online pics are of the chopped top version too which makes it hard to get something close but I'm not pedantic about my model builds........lol. *NM*

  • Decades ago, I read somewhere about AMT having a "creative bankruptcy", in which all of the tools they had in inventory were 'reviewed' in terms of whether that model was "viable" for reissue or rework into some other viable kit. Not sure where I read that.
    • One guy (can't recall his name) wrote definitive histories on Revell, Monogram, and Aurora. He wasn't a "car guy" so apparently AMT, MPC, and Jo-Han didn't come up on his radar *NM*

• New build. Normally, I don't like blue cars. I have built very few models painted blue. I decided to build this one for the purpose of selling it. It ends up, I like it. So, I will build a twin to keep for myself. 1969 Chevelle painted Lemans Blue. .......... *PICS* .....

• The lower half of the engine can't be seen, you could "cheat" and use the "top half parts" of a Buick mill. That car had three engines, at least three sets of wheels, and several paint jobs over the years *NM*
  • The injected nailhead from the '66 Wildcat would be a pretty fair stand in for the kit engine
    • I built my Silhouette using the Buick from AMT's 40 Coupe & home cut metal stacks, also modified the body underneath so the sides could be glued B4 paint & a replaceable piece to allow the frame inserted after.......not perfect but looks o/k ...lol. *NM*
