  • I'd think that just a retooled 28/29 Tudor Sedan body,front seats,rear seat is the only new pieces,everything else surely could be added/subtracted to/from the Woody/Pickup kit,the rear of the floor may need to be redone but considering what has been done in recent years. *NM*

    • To the best of my knowledge the 28 sedan was never repopped. I was only issued the one time and after that its underpinnings were used for the woody and pickup kits. *NM*
      • Guess that explains why they bring so much money when you find one. *NM*
        • How much are they bringing? I scored one from an estate about five years ago for twenty and a few other early sixties first issues.it was a massive collection . *NM*

          • Musclecar Review did an article on the film; the chase was added after filming began. McQueen felt the film needed it as it was slow-paced and would quickly lose the audience *NM*

• A little outta the wheelhouse: Indy 500 Fans - save for the VIP areas, what seats at the Speedway do you like best?
  • High up in turn 4...... You'll a decent view of about half of the back straight, all of turn 3, short chute, turn 4, front straight, and most of turn 1. *NM*
    • I use to sit probably just below you and I loved those seat... I couldn't see the back stretch but I did catch going into the 3 turn into the 4th in front of us and down into the straight and the beginning of the pits. *NM*
    • When they added the spectator mounds inside the third turn, they eliminated the view of turn 3 from all of the turn 4 bleachers.
  • It's subjective, This 500 will be my 55th, seriously, I've sat in the NW Vista Deck seats (turn 4) since 1979. *PIC*

      • Not to my knowledge Andy....Mine was a Cox slot car not a complete glue bomb but needed a whole lot of work to restore it and added a few of my own touches. *NM*
        • Frank...how did you build yours?.....I would think that an Accurate Miniatures Grand Sport might be a good donor kit but I'm only guessing as I've seen very little in print with pics tho' that Link was helpful.....I can't understand why theres been no plastic kit tho'...lol. *NM*
          • Let's say I rebuilt it... with a whole of work I was able to get it apart with very like breakage, but I could not save the headlight covers and with a lot of sanding and polish I was able to save the glass. I don't think the AM GS would work only because of the way**INSIDE*
            • I checked Epay & the Cox slot cars were all over $500 Aus, way over my pay scale, & I'd much prefer a plastic kit rather than a resin, I'm too old to play with a full resin kit, resin parts yes but no to a full kit........lol. *NM*

  • Three were also available with engines and optional parts (Torino, Monte, Chevelle). The Wildcat, T-Bird, and LTD were only sold in this series in 1970 *NM*
    • Thunderbird and Torino got an engine in '71 - guessing the MC series didn't light the cash register in the manner they were hoping *NM*
      • There is a "full" '70 Torino Cobra kit, it's pretty much the same as the '71. The LTD-turned-Galaxie actually has the Torino's engine in it...why else would a cop car have a Boss Nine with a four-speed? *NM*
        • Because that's all the engineers had to work with at the time as a chassis - as told by a particpant
          • And just cos we are chewing the tabakky, the X-Garage had a "Coffee Car" that would be a fun build... '67 T-Bird 4-door pilot build with a 427 SOHC

• I don't know if Keith Marks is still in business. But he had many sheets that included scripts/emblems that were better than any kit decals.
  • Unfortunately for us modelers, Keith Marks retired from making decals in Autumn 2025. *NM*
• The prep was done by Max Balchwsky of Old Yeller fame - first upgrade were Koni shocks, which are orange - bellhousing was fitted during engine assembly all I have seen are Ford Corp Blue *NM*

        • We've been trying to get traction on a complete correct AMC V-8, but its always something *NM*
          • AMT Gremlin and Matador have a pretty good one. Intake and water pump/front cover in the Jo-Han S/C are better, as are its valve covers *NM*
