• Need Mopar Engine Help: cant find '68 Dart stock 440 engine PIC from top down w/o air cleaner. Want to plumb carb but can't find any PIX. Googled my fingers off... *NM*
  • I don't think Darts came stock with a 440 in '68. Maybe try for a 383. Should be about the same, if not exactly. Bill G. could tell you better then me though. *NM*
• Anyone know if Round2, Revell, or Moebius will be at the DAAM show tomorrow? *NM*

    • I scratched built the hood using a mid-70's Corvette hood. The real car has the cowl scoop going to the front and the Corvette hood had the length I needed. I glued on top of the GTO hood to give it the height I needed. Thanks *NM*
    • As Marty said this kit pretty much has wore out it's welcome. The plan is to grab a Revell 66 cut out the tail light and install 67 tail lights so I can build a nicer replica of the real car. *** INSIDE ***
  • Now that's cool! STS really did a good job on those decals. Is that a chrome foil for the lettering? We're the decals easy to work with, or did you have to coax them to play along? *NM*
    • I love using STS decals... very easy to work with just cut them close. The silver is a decal overlay , so in this case I applied the shaded (blue) lettering then laid the silver (Chrome) over it . Decals slid right off no fuss no muss. *NM*

  • The Y-block dress-up kit was mastered by Chris Drysdale and available through Shapeways. I still kick myself for not getting one before their bankruptcy. *NM*

• I've opened up and am looking through the AMT '68 Chevy Corvette Custom kit. There's a couple of pins on the top side of the chassis plate. What are they for? Right now they seem to be holding up the body/interior tub/chassis alignment. *PIC*
  • I built the OG issue of that car a couple of years ago and the two kits are the same EXCEPT and I mean EXCEPT the body. Marty had questioned the kit knowing I had built one and the new body has flares the one I have are stock. Marty gave it to me AND YES I HAVE PLANS. *NM*

    • I talked to a guy who spent two weekends cutting holes in a Deuce frame with a hole saw. Weighed the cutout pieces afterwards...8 pounds! Would have better spent the time building a lighter chassis from scratch *NM*

    • Due to the age of the pic, tyres, etc I'd think it was a weight reducing diet tho' doubtful if it would have made much of a difference.....lol *NM*

• Here is the other suggestion for my 56 Chevy. Flat silver on the panel. PICs I am leaning for no panel or bumper.
  • Might I suggest getting the bumper as flush as possible, no pan, and trimming the trailing edges to be in line with the wheelwells. It would mirror the rear bumper's look *NM*
    • I'm having some fit issues that I still need to work out. *NM*
  • If you are considering not using the bumper anyway, maybe try a little surgery on it that you can repair with a chrome paint and eliminate the filler piece completely or at least narrow it a lot and "chrome" it. Maybe this would work... *PIC*
