• Question about upcoming Atlantis 56 Chevy. The box art shows Bel Air trim. The Revell kit had Del Ray trim. Is the Atlantis kit a new tool or a modified Revell body or wrong box art ? .......... *PICS* .....
  • Looking at a video from NNL East the unpainted 56 Chevy is shown and it looks like the Del Ray trim as opposed to what's shown on the box. I stand to be corrected though. *NM*
  • The Atlantis kit is the old 1960’s Revell tool with opening doors and trunk. On that kit the side trim is separate from the body. You can make anything from a 150 to a Bel Air. *NM*
  • Two entirely different kits.... The Alantis offering is actually the old tool Revell kit from the 1960's. The one with opening doors, (and if memory serves, trunk). *NM*

• Thought I'd seen most weird model tooling but the Moebius "65 Chevy 2 Gasser has separate headlight lenses & reflectors,USA cars have had 7" SEALED beams since 1940,I like retro as much as anyone but why Moebius went back to the 1939 design made me smile...& curse...lol. *NM*
  • You can tell the difference in 1/25 scale? (or maybe this is a dumb question) *NM*
    • Has to be in two pieces unlike the real one, unless they could mold the sealed beam unit solid/in clear plastic, then paint the back side chrome silver *NM*
    • I think this is to give a more realistic look than the old chrome plated solid headlights that were the norm in the sixties. *NM*
  • The modern 1/25 molding way is to have a concave headlight with a clear lens, the kit has a separate reflector that goes on 2 minute lugs behind the clear lens, appearance is great but very fiddly & possibly overkill....lol. *NM*
    • Not really much different then most other kits with clear headlights besides the seprate reflectors as opposed to molded with the grille. Also the pins keep the lenses "clocked" correctly when installed, not in crooked. *NM*
    • They're probably trying to eliminate the use of cement in areas where it would be visible *NM*

  • I wouldn't depend on the primer to fill anything bigger than sanding scratches. It will shrink, and the styrations that many 3D items have will rear their head *NM*

      • Wouldn't buying a high-end printer solve the problem? Assuming the .stl file was created correctly, a printer with higher resolution will create a smoother part. Back when they were still doing it, I had Shapeways print some parts in "high resolution resin" and

        • In a word, no. Entry level printers today are as good as premium printers from three years ago. 8K screens, larger printing surfaces, they are all equipped well. The weak point now is the software.

  • Mark...you mention the Revell M/T Streamliner, a mate gave me an original 1962 issue and apart from a few minor gliches it built well, molded in colour I detail painted everything inside but polished the blue plastic body, came out very nice..lol...I'll email some pics. *NM*

  • Rumor had it that it Atlantis acquired the tooling. I maybe wrong, but I thought the Revell Tooling was the 4 door? Either way, I'd buy it! *LINK*
    • Revell's Dart was a four-door (easy enough to fix that), but became the Revellion funny car body (not so easy to convert back to stock) *NM*
      • I'd bet a Dodge Revellion before a stock '62 annual ChryCo kit
        • I did snag a Tony Nancy double kit to get the axle for the Mooneyes dragster...

• As I remember, the T-bucket and '32 coupe/roadster came out first. The T "coach/cab" and '32 sedan/phaeton came a year or so later. There were a bunch of kits based on these *NM*
  • Offshoot kits include the Goldenrod and Milner Deuce coupes, Blackjack T coupe, Big Rig Rod, Li'l Evil T roadster, and Deuce sedan delivery variations *NM*

  • FB pix from some correspondents showed a shortbed '72 Chevy pickup (not the old stepside) and a '32 Chevy street rod *NM*
  • Nobody there from Revell or Moebius, unless they were spectators. No displays from either, but Atlantis and Round 2 were there *NM*
    • With Revell having only 1-2 people in USA and Moebius HQ in SoCal now (small staff too) not a surpise not at NJ *NM*
