Since Marty is having computer issues, I'll do a small Friday Evening Randomness......pics....
Thanks for the assist, David.... Lots of cool stuff!!! *NM*
NO laughing..........My design for a LSR car.....
Not laughing. That's cool!! Very detailed too. *NM*
Love all the "veiws" 8^)) *NM*
Looks cool to me! I see hints of an Olds Aerotech and a modern day LMP race car. *NM*
It would be a cool model project today *NM*
I would build that but too many projects.. *NM*
1934 Ford 5 window coupes 6. *PICS*
Diggin' the grill and the wheel cover set up on #617! *NM*
Thanks for all the cool inspiration pics! Some great '34s there! Wow. *NM*
Question for Ed or anyone else of course, Suggestions for window glass? *NM*
I don't see how it would be an issue to cut down the kit glass or even use lexan since all of the windows are flat? *NM*
I wonder where I could source the clear plastic used in the Revell Anglia or Henry J? *NM*
I've been known to use plastic that I salvaged from blister packs used on everyday stuff from our weekly grocery shopping. *NM*
Wondering which Monogram / Revell 1/24 kits contain cool vintage wheel covers beyond the Olds Fiesta set in the recent '58 T-Bird and Retractable '59
Another, better set of Olds covers in the Revell custom version '50 Olds coupe *NM*
These are from the '59 retractable... *PICS*
Agree - and it would be cool to see Orange Hauler again! *NM*
Bad news, folks... It looks like there will be no Friday Randomness posts for the foreseeable future... My desktop appears to be dead and it is too difficult to post more than a few pics from my phone... I will probably start shopping for a new computer after the holidays. *NM*
Holidays are when the best d-eel-z are on, if that helps *NM*
I'm aware, but I need to move some money around before I can really start considering making that purchase... Unfortunately that can't happen until after the fit of the year. *NM*
Monogram Flatbox Question: Has anyone reverse-engineered a stock 1/24 Model A pickup from the Blue Beetle/Bandito and the bits from a coupe or touring?
Trouble is, the pickup is a '29 while the stock ones are '30-'31. The '29 RPU lacks stock hood side panels *NM*
Forgot about that part... hmm... *NM*
This is true, however, I have a long stalled project I call my 'farm truuck' that is stock '29 RPU that just doesn't have hood sides. Someday, I might figure out how to make some. *NM*
Would be cool to see pics some day - thanks! *NM*
I took the stock only 30 coupe and hot rodded it.....as close as I have gotten. *PIC*
That is really, really nice! Assume those are the wide wires from the Woody? *NM*
Thanks!! Yes Woody wires......It's all parts swapping among the Monogram 1/24 kits...... *PIC*
That's a realy nice build, Dave. The color pops, and I especially like the deuce bumper, as I hate model A bumpers. *NM*
Also, that kinda reminds me of the "Hot Rod Lincoln"! *NM*
Glad you guys found it of value. Presentation was slightly tweaked today to capture some edits that didn't make it online the first time around. Not worth revisiting, but if you haven't already checked it out, might be worth a few minutes at the following link...thx....TB *NM* *LINK*
Any one know about Thunder Models????
Yep. PIX
Forgot to say: the pedals & diamond plate are PE brass--much easier to work with than stainless steel PE--less inclined to kink on you. *NM*
Excellent work. *NM*
Thank you, JR. *NM*
?Nice work!! Thanks *NM*
Hope that helps some, Dave. Also have their 1/32nd US Tug Clarktor 6--lots of PE bending though. *NM*
Most excellent!!! I have started mine in civilian Case orange.... Lots of ittle tiny parts, so I have to wait until I'm feeling especially calm and relaxed (read: not shaky) before continuing. *NM*
Same condition I have--some days even Michelob Lite doesn't help! *NM*
Very nice work. Thanks for sharing! Now for a Farmall Cub in 1/25 scale!! *NM*
Thanks, Charlie. Dad used a Farmall--row crop wheelbase. Many a fond memory riding it in the field with him. *NM*
What do you think of the front end treatment on this coupe? I don't see... *PIC*
Frame is probably cut off at the front crossmember. A "matter of taste" thing *NM*
That's a mean thing to do a Deuce frame, maybe they were damaged. *NM*
Probably a repro frame. Looks like the hood was stretched to fit over the engine, with the grille shell moved forward. Why not just move the axle forward too? *NM*
Looks cleaner than the usual. *NM*
A lot going on in this one... but I'm sure somebody was happy when it was done *NM*
It may have a 'suicide' front suspension. *NM*
I was going to show you a pic of a 32 Ford I built with a bobbed frame like your pic. My Fotki was down though. Back up again so here's the pic.
So it wasn't just my Fotki.... I wanted to post something this morning as well. No dice, but it's working fine now..... BTW. Diggin' the deuce!!! *NM*
Thank Marty. I've got 32 5 window, 3 window and tudor bodies from Ed Fluck. My next year builds will be Ed's bodies and 55,56,57 Chevys too. 55 and 56 will have Ed's hoods and the 57 will be somewhat Project X / Hollywood Knights ish. *NM*
Cool.. I picked up one of Ed's 34 five window coupe bodies... Not sure when/if I'll get around to it. At this point I'm just hoping to finish my early 60's show custom style '57 T-bird by the end of the year. *NM* *PIC*
Looks like you are well on your way! *NM*
I like to bob the rear frame as well. Pic of same model.
A few more pics of 32's I've built over the years
For those of you that love (like me) the Chrysler Turbine car, here's a video of Jay Leno's newly restored car. *NM* *LINK*
Thanks. That is a great story. Not sure why Jay keeps calling it s "jet" engine though. *NM*
Well a gas turbine engine is essentially a jet engine quite similar to the engines in modern air crafts. *NM*
First let me say Thank You for posting this, Secondly this is my all time favorite car. I am not a Chrysler products guy by any means. I don't hate them by any means either. But there is something about this car that mesmerizes me. I was lucky
But do have THE book on the Chrysler Turbine Car? *LINK* *PIC*
I have that one. *NM*
Yes I do! *NM*
Did somebody say Turbine Car??? If I had Leno's money, I'd have a fiberglass replica made and build one my way...... 😎 *PIC*
There you go!👍🏼 *NM*
If I had Leno's money I'd have that Turbine properly restored. It may run, but doesn't appear to be in very good condition. *NM*
Did you notice the convoy following it?? Hope they didn't melt the bumper off that Tahoe.... *NM*
Scott Colmer. I just pulled issue #3 out of the mailbox!! YIPPEE!!! *NM*
Cool. Did you find yourself? *NM*
Yep. *NM*
Mine arrived Tuesday . . . but I didn't find myself in it. *NM*
Classics builders -anyoney know of a spray or bottle paint that’s a match for Terra Cotta Firemist paint used on old (early 70s) Cadillacs? It may also have other names used on other GM marks. I have an old promo with some chips/worn areas I’m wanting to touch up. *LINK*
Without checking, I bet Scale Finishes can do it for you. *NM*
There are some Tamiya reds that might do the trick *LINK*
How about some random Hot Rod models for a Wednesday morning!.....pics.....
My favorite flavor! *NM*
Nom, nom, nom! *NM*
Thanks David!! *NM*
Cool cars, David! The black roadster with the Ardun flattie floats my boat! *NM*
Lots of neat ideas. Think the first one is one of Tim Boyd's roadster pickups from an 80s Scale Auto article *NM*
Yep...it's mine, built around 1985 or so. TB *NM*
Those look like fun builds! I need to build one someday soon. *NM*
Great selection! Thanks for posting them. *NM*
Radio Shack (showing my age) had the "Nippy Cutter" - mine are many years old and still getting it done
Re: Radio Shack --reminded me of a story in FSM a few years ago, written by a friend.
That wire will take out pretty much every kind of pliers - even some stout craftsman side cutters. Best to have a cutoff wheel in the dremel for those jobs *NM*
So true! *NM*
Nice - frequently overlooked but adds a lot when done well *NM*
Nice article! *NM*
That looks really good, Steve! It makes a more realistic look. Cool project! Our Dad's uncle had a More Door 60 sedan. Always dug the push button shifter and sqarish steering wheel. *NM*
Let's try Square-ish! *NM*
I'm wishing Slixx would bring this decal set back *NM* *PIC*
Re: I've got a couple of decals if you are interested... *NM*
Nice upgrade. Regarding the fragile suspension parts, noticed that on the '62 Catalina's front parts, too *NM*
Thanks, Tim! Definitely will be helpful *NM*
ISO - Falcon Hood
Gerry Chevalier just announced his '67 Falcon resin kit. He's on Facebook and the hood is a stock unit. *NM*
December 2024 Round 2 Product Spotlight *LINK*
The SSlasher...cool! One more time, since I can't remember anything, is that a '71, or '72? Thanks. *NM*
'72. It started out as a '71, but hasn't been reissued as one *NM*
Nice. I may have to get a few since the one I have was given to me on my birthday back in 1980. *NM*
Assuming bash-ability with the Revell '68-9? *NM*
2 car models at 9:40 in the video. *NM*
