Need opinions. PICs Yes, I know it is my build and I can pick what I want but I want some opinions from you all.
I still like your first choice of white stripes. *NM*
Thanks, that's white 1 and black 0. *NM*
Nice color on the Mustang. What is it? *NM*
That is House of Kolor FBC 0504. I can't remember the color name. I purchased the paint over 18 yrs ago. *NM*
Lapis blue. *NM*
That sounds right. Thanks. *NM*
What color is the interior going to be? *NM*
Cream and dark blue. *NM*
Based upon that, I would pick white stripes for my own tastes. I like the contrast anyhow, and think the black stripes would be lost in the shadows of the lower body. *NM*
White, Ditto the above. *NM*
Black side stripes mounted low keep the stripes from popping out, draws the eyes downward, and toward the other dark and complimentary accent of the wheels *NM*
Another project I'm working on.
Lacquer thinner worked ! Just have to mark the bottle "Lacquer" *NM*
Purchased 7 day and 9 hours and 37 minutes ago and finished just now. PICs Fun and interesting little build.
Fun car and a cool model *NM*
I never knew they existed until lass week. Now l want one. *NM*
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is it? *NM*
That was my exact thought when l saw the kit. Well, it's a 1992 AZ 1. I've seen the name Mazda attached to it. It has a 660 cc engine and l found a couple for sale around 25 to 30 K. I think it would be fun but there are other things for 25K that would be much more fun. *NM*
Looks like, in real life, it would be a really tiny car... I'm guessing that I would need two of them.... One for each foot. 😁😁😁 *NM*
Slightly oversized golf cart. Not legal for sale in the U.S., for good reason! *NM*
That's a cute little buggy. I really like your choice of colours, and it's such a nice clean build! *NM*
Thank you. *NM*
Neat Autozam Terry! Is that the Aoshima kit? *NM*
Yes, it is. Nice kit, goes together pretty well. Headlights could be tricky. Mine were off just a touch but not real noticeable. *NM*
Nice builds of a neat little car. They actually have gullwing doors, could you imagine how fiddly they would be in kit form? *NM*
I noticed that when I looked them up online. I had a fleeting thought (less than a nanosecond) about opening the doors. *NM*
Did most of the chassis work on the '36 sedan today , , [PICS]
Great job making a clean and realistic chassis, and for mirroring the molded-in exhaust! *NM*
Looking good! *NM*
Very nice! *NM*
That looks perfect! I really like the copper wire idea! *NM*
Looking better all the time Steve! *NM*
At the risk of being laughed at for asking this... Anyone willing to do a 6-month same kit group build/buddy build with me? That is, using the recently released AMT 1991 Chevy Beretta GTZ?
I just placed my order with our hosts for my kit. *NM*
I might be interested in joining that build off :) *NM*
Given the time frame I think I could do that. I still have my original issue of the kit but I had kinda started it. Got some paint on the body and interior but a fresh kit with those new decals would be nice. *NM*
This is very intriguing....... I might even throw my hat in on that....... *NM*
I might be interested in doing that one Mike. *NM*
MPC 1/25 Petty RR find today - question:
they all shared the same two piece chassis and basic engine/drivetrain. Different cylinder heads and valve covers were used to create the various engines. There were also different firewall adaptors, and rear bulkheads for each car, which allowed for the universal chassis
Not an expert, but one tidbit that I do recall is that the Southern Stocker series had a little length trimmed off of the rear section of the front chassis half, to accommodate the shorter wheelbase "new" cars.
The tires were retooled in a slightly smaller size for the s/s cars. With the bigger bodies getting reissued, the tires seem too small. *NM*
PPP have nice tires and wheels for the early-mid seventies cars. *NM*
Closest I can think of is modifying an original '71-'73 mpc RR chassis... *PIC*
I was wondering what the Polar Lights Chargers were like for chassis. I recall that their bodies were a mess, but seem to remember that the chassis wasn't bad. I have one in storage but can't get to it at the moment. *NM*
Just went to Drastic Plastics - other than the enomous trans tunnel, the chassis looks pretty usable for a RR
I wonder how far off the trans tunnel is. The Petty cars seemed to have large tunnels. *NM* *LINK*
The P.L. tunnel is even bigger than that. I'd like to know what they were thinking? (or smoking!) *NM*
Ah thanks. I haven’t looked at one of those kits in a while. Shouldn’t be surprised though, as the Charger bodies were way off. *NM*
The amt '71 charger chassis may be another possibility... *PIC*
The original MPC Petty Road Runner…
Friday Evening Randomness.... *PICS*
Thanks for posting the pics *NM*
Marty, more great pics.....the silver Oz Valiant Charger...was that car in the USA?.....its a rare R/T & it appears to have the 36 gallon tank.......the smoke off the rear tyres was standard on the E48 triple 45DCOE Weber carbed versions...lol. *NM*
Yes... The car is a regular at Drive & Drag events (Hot Rod Drag Week, Sick Summer, etc.) here in the US.... Pretty sure it's kept here in the states and the driver and mechanic travel here to take part in those events. *NM*
Thanks Marty! *NM*
Great shots Marty...Thanks :) *NM*
Nice selection!! *NM*
Thanks Marty! *NM*
Miscellaneous Mopar Madness *PICS*
Thanks Bill....and for those that are interested, here's a second 1973 Duster 340 setup with mags and bigs and biggers/////TB y *PIC*
My first new car was a '74 Duster, Avocado Gold. First thing I did was add a set of those mags. They improved the appearance tremendously. *NM*
Holy Moly, Bill!! All those Dodge & Fargo vans & pickups...to die for... *NM*
The ‘71 Fury reminds me a lot of the new diecast car coming out from Round 2. Sure would like to see a plastic kit of that! *NM*
X 2! *NM*
Times 3........any fuselage mopar would be good. *NM*
X4, of course. I may even buy my first ever 1/64th diecast just to send a message to Round 2....TB *NM*
Thanks Bill!! *NM*
Thank you Mr. Neyrinck! *NM*
Looking for help on preparing kit ties to accept Indycal tire markings
People I know who use decals on vinyl tires first give the sidewall a light coat of acrylic clear, apply the decal, then another coat of clear before installing the wheel (doing their level best not to flex the tire in the process) *NM*
The "no flexing" rule is very important. Trim the inside of the tires, or the wheel barrel so the tire is a slip-fit onto the wheel. You can use a little epoxy or even RTV to secure the tire, as necessary. *NM*
I'm wondering if Tesors Dullcote would work as well. *NM*
Testors that is...lol *NM*
1. Scrub with kitchen cleanser to remove the shine and the mold release. 2. Apply Testors Glosscote. 3. Apply decals. 4. Apply Testors Glooscote. 5. Apply Testors Dullcote. This method always works for me. *NM*
That's the perfect answer as far as my experince goes. Decals need a glossy surface, dullcoat provides the final amount of sheen. *NM*
After applying all the clear and decals, do you have to be careful to not manipulate the tires too much? I would think that the paint would be less flexible than the vinyl tires. *NM*
Sorry, I see you addressed this above. *NM*
Would Future (or whatever it is called today) do the same thing? BTW, many thanks for the Indycals tutorial! *NM*
Thanks Everyone....and best wishes to the MDA on their 2026 event.....TB *NM*
I fitted an annual kit grille to one, but then again I did a bunch of other work to that body on top of that *NM*
It's finished. PICs I gave up on the gunmetal with red coves and just finished it in black.
I love black cars and with that red interior it really pops. Nice build. *NM*
I almost chucked the kit when the 1st paint job failed but l had the interior done and l thought the black would go well. *NM*
One of my favourite colour combos. Nice work! *NM*
Thank, it does poop. *NM*
That turned out pretty decent Terry. Nice contrast. *NM*
It does look nice on the shelf. *NM*
That is probably the most important thing. *NM*
Number one on my list! *NM*
Very nice build! *NM*
Thanks! *NM*
I have a couple of resin Hemi grilles floating around in my grille box, so I know that replacements are available. *NM*
Interesting, will have to keep an eye peeled for them - good tip
At least one of the Moebius kits has both grilles. But the hood trim is separate, and they include only one of that piece *NM*
Might be worth a look. Did some YT digging - found a vid on replacing glass in '57-'61 models
There's more shape in the grille than I recall (or that any of the kit companies have captured) *NM*
Everyone. A very sincere thank you for all of the comments and compliments on my 1965 Impala build. I truly appreciate all of them. Thank you all. *NM*
Thanks for sharing all of your projects with us, Scott! I find them very inspirational! *NM*
Absolutely Scott! Your prolific builds give me ideas for more projects! Like I need more projects! Lol! Keep up the great work sir! *NM*
I agree *NM*
