• WTB Clearview 2000 and some early '60s Palmer kits. Who has 'em? *NM*
  • I just used the last of my Clearview 2000 to make a replica of the MPC NASCAR GTO kit, using the body of a newer GTO kit. Sorry about that. I would like to know if it’s still in production, though, so I can get some more. *NM*

    • I have a handful of them in my collection...With their odd proportions, some could be used as the starting point for a funny car body. *NM*
  • I used up my clearview 2000 on an MPC GTO Nascar, an original issue 1/16th scale Richard Petty Charger, an Ohio George Mustang gasser and the hood of a 37 Chevy gasser!

• Post script is that the early chassis bits are 'universal' - save for any torsion bar detail in the Petty RR (but not in the box, nor were the instructions)

  • No, it is included in the 1965 kit. Both the stock version kit and the Foose kit. The A/C parts also come in the Revell 1966 Impala SS kits. *NM*
    • Both '65 hardtop and convertible? They have different engines *NM*
      • Yes the 65 convertible has the A/C parts. *NM*
        • Assuming that one was the last 409, one was a 396?
          • Convertible has a 409, hardtop 396. '65 hardtop chassis/engine are used in the '66 hardtop kit also *NM*

• Annual kit trivia: are '62 and '63 Meteor hoods the same in scale? They look like it... any help appreciated!
  • Pretty sure '62 has "Mercury" in block letters, while '63 has script. "Sheetmetal" should be the same though *NM*

• Yeah, a new jar of Tamiya acrylic is not expensive and they do work so nicely when new-ish. Tamiya does sell acrylic thinner and acrylic paint retarder, both of which I use on older jars. *NM*

  • Well, that's a good thought... Imma take a look at the instruction sheets on Drastic for those kits and an idle thought:
    • The Kit Car kit could lend you some things. The front suspension is pretty specifically a Mopar deal, and is pretty detailed. I’m not sure…

        • I used to have those issues of C/D. Forgot which Mopar team it used to build the car. Also forgot which NASCAR driver drove it in the 24 Hours of Daytona. *PIC*
          • Gotta re-read the story, but may have tossed it. Was the driver one of the Ruttman's?
          • Found an online finishing order for the race. The C/D Dodge is listed in 44th place, with the driving team of Ruttman/Baker/Behr listed. Oil pressure ia given as the reason for their place. It also noted the car finished 21st in IMSA's GTO class. *LINK*
• Well then, yes, I would probably go with the white stripes.... Personally though. I prefer the black stripes. Just look a touch classier, IMHO. *NM*
