  • No. They did not make those wheels with the small A-body bolt pattern. You can, of course, get them aftermarket today. *NM*
    • So even the 383 cars had the 4-1/4" on 5 pattern? *NM*
      • To the best of my knowledge. For example, even though 340/383 cars had 8.75" big-car rear ends, they had the 4.25" b.c. on the axles. *NM*
        • That would explain why I can't recall ever seeing those wheels on a Dart, Valiant, or Duster. Too bad, they'd look good on a lot of them *NM*

  • That ‘39 Plymouth is a neat little car! IIRC 1939 was the last year before sealed beam headlights became a requirement, hence the nifty little headlight lenses on the ‘39. *NM*
    • Yep, 1939 was the last yr before 7" sealed beams, for 1939 each Mopar brand had a different shaped headlight lens, tho the aftermarket had sealed beam conversions available. *NM*

  • The C3 parts will probably be a bunch of work. MPC Corvette IRS usually has a wide "crossmember" on top of the center section...file that thinner and the back end will come down...

• I want to build a 1969 Dart GTS in orange. I have seen 1969 Chargers and RR's in 999 orange, but not V2 hemi orange. I haven't seen any 69 Darts in any orange. Could you get a Dart in 999 orange or V2 hemi orange ? .......... *PICS* .....

      • But, what color is "999"? It could be anything, AFAIK. Just use V2 Hemi Orange, as it was definitely available. *NM*
        • I seem to recall at least some 1969 Mopars with 999 being painted “Omaha Orange” but whatever that was is a mystery to me. And as you say, 999 paint code was used for ‘anything’, so… *NM*

              • Some dealer group may have put together a bunch of "special edition" cars. That color is popular with rodders; looks good, easy to get, easy to touch up and match *NM*
                • I seem to recall that there were some Omaha Orange (Chargers?) Mopars ordered in 1969 as a promotion for some football team or something. So many little bits of information I've taken in over the years I'm now having trouble keeping it straight. lol

    • I also anecdotally recall reading about some applications of “Panther Pink” and “Plum Crazy” in year models after they were considered officially available. Those cars had 999 paint codes as well. *NM*

  • I haven't got my kit handy, but I'd bet on red/blue line tires. The Super Bird logo was used in the funny car kit also, but the sheet itself may have been different *NM*
    • My kit's tires are black sidewall on both sides, but box art does show redlines *NM*
      • I checked four decal sheets; three are dated 8-68 with the fourth 6-69. So the annual and funny car probably did use the same sheet *NM*
        • A fifth sheet in an unbuilt funny car is dated 11-68. All are numbered Y-903 (annual kit) *NM*
      • Thus my confusion - but having another to check confirms it really is original... thought they mighta been switched out
        • The tires and slicks in my kit are all the same; relatively soft for that time frame, and not shiny, so I'm betting they are original to the kit. I've got a second '69 annual, but it's sealed and will stay that way *NM*

  • Just seemed odd. My research found that side view mirrors were optional (even driver side). Driver side view mirrors were not Federally mandated until 1968 (wow). *NM*
    • Took even longer to get them on both sides. My mom bought a new Dodge Neon in 1995, it didn't have a right side mirror *NM*
• Gerry, just looking & admiring your build again & saw one thing I'd change....& its something thats caught me out a few times too.......that kit 6volt battery will need at least a 2nd one in the trunk to start the Hellcat engine...lol..nah looks fine...lol.. *NM*
  • The research I did stated that the 56 300-B actually was the transistion point to 12 volt...
    • 6V batteries have 3 cells, 3 caps. 12V have 6 cells/caps. Anything with a modern engine and electronics will be running 12V. *NM*

• I can't help re a photo etch person but depending on the actual size of the Harley badge in 1/6th it maybe easier to find a Jeweller to make the piece......my brother does a lot of fine hand made items like that, which gave me the suggestion...but like me,he is in Australia. *NM*
