On the internet: Mike Yager's Mid-America Motorworks (Corvette AND Volkswagen parts businesses AND museums) were wiped out from a tornado. *LINK* *PIC*
A shout out to Frank LaQue for the windows. This has been in the works for a little while. PICs
Any thoughts here on how to post a 4th of July model parade where everyone could participate? I think it would be fun to do. *NM*
X2!! *NM*
There ought to be a law?!? Someone put a Ferrari engine...in a Porsche 911?!? *LINK* *PIC*
What a waste of an engine......in a rebodied VW yet.........oh the humanity......lol.......yeh, I know back in my corner I go....lol. *NM*
Oh, the horror. And yet, the sun still came up this morning... *NM*
Anyone have a stock MPC '64-7 Corvette who could do a quick A/B? Rear ride height question ...
The C3 parts will probably be a bunch of work. MPC Corvette IRS usually has a wide "crossmember" on top of the center section...file that thinner and the back end will come down...
I will look at that - many thanks! *NM*
I want to build a 1969 Dart GTS in orange. I have seen 1969 Chargers and RR's in 999 orange, but not V2 hemi orange. I haven't seen any 69 Darts in any orange. Could you get a Dart in 999 orange or V2 hemi orange ? .......... *PICS* .....
According to paintref.com you could get a '69 Dart in V2 or 999 Orange... *LINK*
Awesome. Thank you for posting that. BTW, I just found a 1969 Swinger 340 on Google with a fender tag that say's V2 for the color. I'm going to do 999 as per your link answer. Thanks again. *NM*
Here's a couple for you...
That's news to me. There was a popular color for 1969 Barracudas called "Barracuda Orange" which was actually R4 red. This was a 1968 1/2 Charger color that was carried over for 1969 and was available on the Dart Swinger and Barracuda A-bodies. As with all....
V2 was a spring of 69 release. *NM*
By the way, didn’t the “999” code just indicate a special order colour? Not specifically one colour, like orange. For example the 1968 Petty Blue Roadrunners had a 999 paint code. *NM* *LINK*
I've been on a run of quick down and dirty builds lately but this one I this I did a much better job. PICs
Nice build, which kit?
Thanks! That's the Meng kit. Very nice kit. *NM*
I have always been in awe of those headers! Nice job! *NM*
Thanks! I didn't follow the instructions exactly and it was a little bit of a pain to get them together but it worked out in the end. *NM*
Looks great *NM*
Good job Terry. I love those Ford GT40 MK II cars. *NM*
Thanks! I'm thinking about the Jacky Ickx 69 winner. *NM*
That's been on my list too. I have a conversion kit to add the motor and related suspension. *NM*
Terry, I've got that kit. Decals troublesome to apply? Need solvent? *NM*
The 2 red decals took a lot of patience and solution for me but l have never been great appling decals over compound curves. Also the number on the rear deck was a pain. *NM*
Very nice build Terry. What scale is that one? *NM*
Thanks! That's the Meng 1/24. *NM*
Howdy everyone, would anyone happen to have a spare rear bumper from an AMT '60 Bonneville? I scored one online but it had no bumpers. Hit me off the board and thanks for your help! *NM*
No. 12, 13 and 14 IH Scout *LINK* *PIC*
These are cool. I wish a mainstream company would kit an updated Scout. That pickup is really cool *NM*
Hmmm. First-gen Scout kit is interesting, but why do I have a craving to do a model of a Glassic *PIC*
My new 3D model in print...... *PIC*
1969 Falcon annual questions... found my minty mint kit
I haven't got my kit handy, but I'd bet on red/blue line tires. The Super Bird logo was used in the funny car kit also, but the sheet itself may have been different *NM*
My kit's tires are black sidewall on both sides, but box art does show redlines *NM*
I checked four decal sheets; three are dated 8-68 with the fourth 6-69. So the annual and funny car probably did use the same sheet *NM*
A fifth sheet in an unbuilt funny car is dated 11-68. All are numbered Y-903 (annual kit) *NM*
Thus my confusion - but having another to check confirms it really is original... thought they mighta been switched out
The tires and slicks in my kit are all the same; relatively soft for that time frame, and not shiny, so I'm betting they are original to the kit. I've got a second '69 annual, but it's sealed and will stay that way *NM*
I recall scoffing at the FC... but now I'd hop all over a builder if I could score it at a decent price *NM*
I didn't know about it pre-eBay (that, and a bunch of other stuff!) *NM*
I remember buying an AMT kit back in the late '60's that had the wrong chrome tree in it. *NM*
either the classic AMT whitewalls, or the reversible redline/blue line would be correct.
I have a built original 1969 Impala. Original Firestones in that kit were red stripes on one side, blue on the other. *NM*
Wow, that's some wild paint schemes Terry! Nice work!! *NM*
Thanks! *NM*
How frickn kool is that! *NM*
While building my 1969 Boss 302 Mustang, I noticed the date 1988 cast into a part. I think on the chassis. Did this used to be the 1969 Shebly Mustang ? *NM*
Yes, they share many parts. *NM*
That 1969 Mustang kit fathered a few foals. *NM*
Re:It was first the 69'shelby then modified into the 69'Mach 1 mustang then modified into the 69'Boss 302 *NM*
Thank you all so much for the comments and compliments on my Boss 302 build below. They are greatly appreciated ! *NM*
Who does custom photoetch in Canada?
I can't help re a photo etch person but depending on the actual size of the Harley badge in 1/6th it maybe easier to find a Jeweller to make the piece......my brother does a lot of fine hand made items like that, which gave me the suggestion...but like me,he is in Australia. *NM*
Off the Bench - 1956 Chrysler 300B Street Machine
Very nice. Very cool car. You did an awesome job. *NM*
That's really nice! *NM*
I live in Albany...didn't even now about this. *NM*
It was posted on SABA FB page and I believe LAMA as well. Sorry you missed it. *NM*
EXCELLANT *NM*
Gerry, thats very nice, I could happily live with it, especially like the colour & wheel choice, engine suits it perfectly. *NM*
Gerry, just looking & admiring your build again & saw one thing I'd change....& its something thats caught me out a few times too.......that kit 6volt battery will need at least a 2nd one in the trunk to start the Hellcat engine...lol..nah looks fine...lol.. *NM*
The research I did stated that the 56 300-B actually was the transistion point to 12 volt...
6V batteries have 3 cells, 3 caps. 12V have 6 cells/caps. Anything with a modern engine and electronics will be running 12V. *NM*
Thanks Bill. I think I'll pop it out and put a modern battery in its place. *NM*
Gerry...that looks terrific. Very impressed with your attention to detail and the color choice works surprisingly well. "Ya done good, man!". BTW I believe I recall reading somewhere that the early Chrysler 300 letter cars did not come with rearview mirrors...possibly...
Just seemed odd. My research found that side view mirrors were optional (even driver side). Driver side view mirrors were not Federally mandated until 1968 (wow). *NM*
Took even longer to get them on both sides. My mom bought a new Dodge Neon in 1995, it didn't have a right side mirror *NM*
WOW!! *NM*
Good build! Your sleekening of the trim was just right. *NM*
Nice work Gerry. *NM*
Saw a report online that notes that longtime NASCAR/auto racing sports writer Steve Waid has died. He was 77. *NM* *LINK*
Saw that......met a few times during my NASCAR licensing days....solid guy. RIP *NM*
I know this car!
Was that B/W pic taken in Riverside, CA? *NM*
Can't recall who told me those weren't in the HT, but that might not be right...
New build. I think that it's "Boss". .......... *PICS* .....
👍👍 *NM*
Replied to this as I was working on an engine compartment for a '69 Cobra Jet. I "guesstimate" where wires and hoses go. By the time the model is finished, it will look like they are just where they are supposed to be. I think you do a good job on the detail. *NM*
Close enough. Looks great! *NM*
she's a beauty *NM*
Looks great to me! Is that the Revell kit? *NM*
Yes it is. The box art is a yellow car also. *NM*
Scott you did a nice job on that kit. I have a bunch in my stash I hope some day to build. *NM*
Looks good enough to me. But some experts might find something wrong with it...
Years ago, when my eyes were much younger, I used a Chilton's manual to actually try to get the correct firing order and the hoses and wiring the right places. As I got older that became pretty tedious. As I rarely enter contests any more, no one inspects the detail that
I believe in the Shepherd Paine theory - "If it didn't look like that, it should"
Beautifully done, Scott. *NM*
Very nice and very cleanly done. *NM*
Nice work Scott, looks real good. *NM*
Looks great Scott!! *NM*
Great colors. Reminds me of the early '70s! *NM*
I lived thru the 70s. Don't remember much. *NM*
You go David!! *NM*
Speaking of Model Cars Mag - has it been awhile since a new issue has come out? I don't remember when I last received and issue. *NM*
Issue 227 came out about 12-13 months ago... Sadly, I've pretty much written off getting the last four issues on my subscription. ☹️ *NM*
I got my issues of Model Cars from a couple of swap meet vendors in recent years. One stoppped coming to contests, and the other (based out of Houston) seems to have stopped carrying MC. *NM*
That was the last issue I received also. Tried logging on to my account but don't remember my acct number. Supposedly they will email it but it has been 10 hrs now and nothing. Guess we have another dead magazine! *NM*
Is it run by the same thieves that run 'Rodders Journal'? Promises, promises... *NM*
Bill....re TRJ you expressed my feelings too........daughter bought a sub in Dec 2024, 18mths ago no copy thru them but have got them thru retail stores that had the mag....go figure?......lol. *NM*
That funny car is freaking wild!!! I'm assuming 1/16 scale??? *NM*
Yes 1/16! A guy at work had a tie that had that design and l copied. *NM*
I bought the AMT '66 GT-350 Mustang last weekend, and I noticed something--the only interior is the non-Shelby 'Pony' interior. Where can I find the regular Mustand front seats?
Look for a beat up promo or 65 annual
Wow! That would have been a pleasure to drive around the city! lol Range on a tank of fuel wouldn’t have been so great though. *NM*
Re: Wow! That would have been a pleasure to drive around the city! lol Range on a tank of fuel wouldn’t have been so great though. *PIC*
Haha! That’s great! *NM*
It ain't for driving, it's for arriving! *NM*
Well put.... Though I have vivid memories of the car cruising University Avenue, in St Paul, during the NSRA Nationals, back in 1979.... Everybody stopped in their tracks, to watch it go by. *NM*
You definitely wouldn’t miss that showing up at cruise night! *NM*
Cammer!! *NM*
Haven't seen a new Collectible Automobile magazine issue at Barnes & Noble in Texas since February. April and June has since come out according to their website. I emailed them for a response. *NM*
I've been a subscriber almost from day one, I've been getting my copies on time. Haven't been in a Barnes & Noble recently, but around here that's probably where I'd have to go to buy a copy in person *NM*
