I guess I didn't read the previews very well, but watching the unveil on the Round2 68 GTO......
"budget has been drastically reduced since retirement. I have to pick and choose more wisely than I did pre-retirement." Me too. Been retired since 1999.😎 *NM*
Information available to me indicates like the recent 63 Nova wagon, the kit is designed to be issued with an engine later. *NM*
The '68 GTO has an opening hood & removable lower engine insert. Obviously designed for engine later like the '63 Nova Wagon.. *NM*
I like that strategy. *NM*
I don't mind the no engine option. At least the made the hood a separate part. I wish all curbside models were like that.
sorry I meant the hood as a separate part. *NM*
As somebody who just watched the video and has rounded up several old MPC GTO’s…
The Monogram engine does look fine under an MPC hood. *PIC*
The only thing I never understood about that particular engine….
Never bugged me, I don't know the difference. *NM*
Port spacing is wrong. Like putting small block Chevy headers on a Hemi lol *NM*
Well, I've been called a rivet counter, but it's pretty hard to see the carb or intake with the air cleaner installed. Now if it were very obvious, like headers, yes I can understand that! *NM*
Alternate choice for engine that might work: '70 Trans Am in 1/24 from RM
Am I correct in thinking the 68/69 GTO and the 70 T/A have the same exact engine? *NM*
Hope this helps... *LINK*
Thanks Jim I should have been more clear lol I meant the model kits not the 1:1 cars lol my mistake. *NM*
The '70 engine might not be too accurate, as that kit was converted from the '80 Turbo kit which had that oddball 301 *NM*
Did a 1969 "Judge" have a 455? I thought they did. Learning new things at a older age. *NM*
GM didn't allow engines over 400 cubic inches in its intermediate cars until 1970. There were exceptions...
Adding to this, 1970 was the first year for the Pontiac 455. Same for the Buick 455, Olds 455 and Chevy 454. *NM*

Both Royal Pontiac and Myrtle Motors built 428 HO Firebird 'specials'
"only" 335 HP. *NM*
Okay - just checked
It depends on which 301 you’re comparing it too. Non turbos had a special thin wall cast block to reduce weight. *NM*
That's true except for Oldsmobile. Olds brought it out for some big cars. They also ended up putting the 455 in the Hurst/Olds' for 1968 and 1969. *NM*
should have said Oldsmobile brought the 455 out in 1968. *NM*
I stand corrected, thanks Scott. *NM*
Digging into H/O history - Olds DID install the 455s in 68/9 on the production line in Lansing
