  • Silver is a good choice *NM*
  • Tamiya silver over red is how I do it. *NM*
  • Plain old Testor's Metallic Silver in the rattle can we had in the day will work - and if you can spare any Metallizer sprays
• Looking through the CARtoons articles our hosts have on hand. On the cover of issue 37 is a blue coupe. Kind of inspiring to me. *PIC*
  • Looks '32ish to me, and you might want to look in the OLD Revell '29 truck kit for a nose you could start with. Be sure to post when it's done! *NM*
  • I'm not bad mouthing the host products, but I find Cartoons pretty disappointing in comparison to what it used to be.
    • I was introduced to CARtoons in the late '80s. I use to love the K&B series. I recognized George Trosley's art on the cover with K&B. *NM*
      • Trosely is great, He used to do art for one of the mags like Kar Culture / Hot Rod deluxe or one of those, don't remember which.......

      • I did a search of decals over at Slixx. They sell 2 different sets for a Dodge Colt. Both item descriptions mention "This decal is designed to fit on the Colt Resin Body by Southern Motorsports or RMR Resins." *NM*

    • There was a kit, unfortunately it measured out at about 1/22 or 1/23. The four-door kit is roughly 1/26 *NM*
  • My thought is both same size Colt's but different years... Look at the bumpers, The RS bumpers stick out maybe newer year than the SM car. *NM*
    • The C pillar and rear glass are totally different as well. *NM*
      • Well that tells me they are a year apart especially with the bigger bumpers.... You wouldn't think it was a Cricket would you..... HMMM *NM*
        • I'm no expert on those cars , but that might make more sense given they are from the same season.
        • Cricket (Hillman Avenger) was only imported through the end of 1972, and only wagons and four-doors *NM*
          • I only mentioned the Cricket because in HS my girlfriends dad was a Foreman at the Chrysler plant in Belvidere and he had a 4 door he used for a work car. Only reason I remember that name. *NM*

• FYI Scott. I just watched a build video on the Revell Van and the box says 1/25 scale. The AMT kit might be easier to find, but if you're looking for the "Groovy" interior parts, not so much. *NM*

              • As many a young Romeo learned innaday: Asking ain't getting. If you want a nice Fairlane for the shelf, snag a tidy promo and the Mod Stocker kit, you will have 99% of the original kit.
            • Not sure who to credit, but, the latest Mod Stock release has a lot of the annual still left on the trees

    • Those aren't shackles they are traction bars... I've never seen ones like that go to the rear but in looking under the car they were not part of the spring. *NM*

  • The info is out there...look up the overall length and wheelbase of both long and short versions to arrive at the differences *NM*

• Looks like the L&L is a '67 Olds F-85 body which is not a hardtop, but has post and enclosed frame door glass. Stock most(?) have a bench front seat. The F-85 also has minimal side trim. Looks like you are aware of that but if you want some good F-85 reference pics there *LINK*

    • It could be a MH, but Ford took 4WD in house around 57 (I think) so I'd guess Factory. But who knows? *NM*

      • Close enough for me. All of my reference stuff is in storage, so I can't say for sure. I only build shelf models so, I won't loose sleep over the fine details. *NM*
        • Wonder what the fitment is like - is it a simple drop-on? Also, I do like to know hot close to actual the frame/suspensiion is, though, because even as a shelf model, it doesn't have to be perfect, but it's nice to know how close it is for my own satisfaction. *NM*

      • Here's a head on shot, I drilled out the headlights, separated the bumper from the grille, of course de-chromed it and substituted a Bronco open grillle for the kit one as it was too shallow to open up. *NM* *PIC*
