• The shelves I store my spray paints on are quite close together, so I'm thinking of storing spray cans on their side, so I can more easily read the color labels on the tops. Are there drawbacks to doing this? thanks. *NM*
  • FWIW, I toss the caps then take a fine point marker and write the color on the top, around the nozzle. But my shelves aren't real close together. *NM*

  • Can't help with the DeSoto bumpers but I have an AMT 49 Mercury dash, yours if wanted. *NM*
  • The only source of a 50 Merc dash, that I recall, is the ultra rare Aurora Mod Squad wagon (and it left much to be desired)... I'm assuming that the DeSoto bumpers your looking for are ribbed? Wasn't there a pair of them in the Revell chopped Merc kit? *NM*

  • Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland sells a really nice resin cast 50 Mercury dash. *NM*
    • There was a pair of ribbed bumpers in a release of the AMT '40 Ford Sedan Delivery. *NM*
      • The Revell Custom Mercury also has a set of ribbed bumpers. *NM*
      • My error. Looks like the '40 only has front ribbed bumper option. None for rear. *NM*
        • The Revell Custom '48 Ford Coupe #4253 has front & rear ribbed bumpers. *NM*
• Great builds Scott but just a little constructive criticism....you need to spend a little more time lining up the panels on all those Nascars....they kinda come of as wrecked !!! LOL !!! *NM*

  • Really sharp '29 Model A lowboy. Looks like you used the contemporary Revell kit, but subbed the AMT Model A Roadser body (judging by the non-radiused rear wheel wells...), very cool! TB *NM*

• I did a story for Scale Auto around 2010 or so that showed the cutlines for sectioning a number of late 1940s/early 1950s model car bodies. It was based on an old article in a pocketbbook type pub from the 1950s, that was republished by Rodder's Journal a while back...TB *NM*

    • In fairness to the magazine Editors I've worked with over the years, one pointed out that some of the images are very old (dating back four decades or so) and felt the timeliness of such an article might be a bit questionable. Others may have shared that as well....TB *NM*

            • Good on you. I resisted it for years; when I finally did get on it, I wasted incredible amounts of time on it. So now, I get on for an hour or so, once a week. *NM*
          • I'm not afraid... I just have no desire to share everything that is happening in my life and find it odd that others feel the need to share what is happening in theirs.
            • You don't have to share anything with anybody. You don't have to interact. But there is a lot of good info to be found there. For me, the "good" outweighs the "bad". *NM*
            • Just remember anything you share online can be seen by anyone. Don’t blame facebook for people being stupid and posting their life online. There is many model groups and vendors on there. *NM*
              • I created a FB identity to just be able to access the stuff I am interested in, that requires you to sign in or request access to. Otherwise I have no interest, and do not share any personal information on it. I don’t really get the whole social media thing, and I think

• Great productive year! What painting technique did you use for the black vinyl roof on the '68 Charger R/T? The look of texture is much more subtle than masking tape and looks more in scale than other types I have seen. *PIC*

  • I used the Revell 1969 Charger body. It has the vinyl top texture molded in, along with the stainless moldings wher the C pillars meet the rear quarters. I masked the roof off from the rest of the body and painted it Tamiya semi-gloss black. *NM*

• Scott, great work re the black 1970 Coronet...how did you paint the center part of the bumper?....I masked mine & after painting the Tamiya tape took off some of the chrome plating, Molotow fixed it but was anoying to say the least & have a couple more of that kit to build. *NM*
  • Thanks. If you look at that area of the front bumper using a magnifying glass, there are 2 very faint marks that shows the edges where it's divided. I used a very small paint brush for the edges, then a larger brush to fill it in using th same gloss black I used on the body. *NM*
