  • Would the engine from the '65 2+2 work? I have one to spare, partially painted. *NM*
  • It should work, keep in mind the Bonnie kit has a tripower setup which was not available from Pontiac after 1966. Look for the AMT/MPC 69 Firebird which will have a single 4 bbl intake if you want a factory correct engine.
    • The older the better for the Firebird if it is the AMT or MPC, the tool is showing its age - Upcoming Revell '68 Firebird is really the best in scale

  • I’m not “up” on the two kits, why using the duster parts, is it a newer tool and the demon a Re popped? Was thinking the demon was all new and thus likely better detailed chassis etc? *NM*
    • Because it is an old MPC kit with minor updates. Engine, chassis, etc... is typical primitive MPC stuff from 50+ years ago. The AMT Duster is 100% state of the art tooling. *NM*
      • This is what I can't understand,wouldn't it have been better to use the Duster tooling,apart from the body as the basis for the Demon? both cars use the same basis underpinings, but I'm no expert, neither were sold here, we got the our updated Valiant instead. *NM*
        • Round2 does a careful cost analysis on every project and they take whichever road makes the most sense financially. At least when they redo these kits they do make key improvements that make them look better sitting on the shelf (separate headlights, etc) *NM*
          • Which I would expect, those guys obviously know what they are doing, it just , at least on the surface of it would have seemed easier to start with the Duster tooling, but the main thing is that we still get plastic kits. *NM*

  • I believe so... I had a few sets and I know one set was Revell's but they seem small to me so I do think these are AMT. From which kit I don't remember. *NM*
    • The show-n-go '66 Marauder had them, and I think one of the annual Camaros too
      • '66 Merc and original AMT '66 Hemi Under Glass are the only original AMT kits I can think of with Hurst wheels...
        • Vaguely remember a Testors reissue of the IMC '48 Ford (the 'Famous Fords' series) had Hurst mags in it. *NM*
          • Those aren't up there with the Jo-Han or AMT versions IMO *NM*
            • JoHan Hurst were common - I have a jar of them - but undersize for AMT in 1/25

• Have you seen that Slixx has Billy the Kid decals for a Demon Pro Stock (1972)? They're designed to fit the Comp Resins Demon body. Dunno if they'll fit the Round2 body. *PIC*

• Has anyone expermented with Testors Color Shift paint
  • Not used that specific one but I’ve played with some of the other color shift paints,a black base tends to work best to see the effect or darker blues, grays. Light color base coats it tends not to show up well with *NM*
    • You got my curious now tho how it may look sprayed over a really dark purple base *NM*
  • It has to be sprayed over black or at least something very dark. It seems a tad thicker when it goes on to me, as well. *NM*
