  • I wonder how hard it would be to make a ‘69 using parts from the MPC kit. *NM*

        • I get that but why would you want to? It's be easier to just splice 2 MPC kits together to the right length , , or better yet, just fix the 1/4 window opening on the Revell '69. *NM*
          • Front end clip and side vents are easier than lengthening bodys. The Revell version is nice, but I like the original AMT better. *NM*

      • If that's from the Mach Won, there's more there then just the '69 Grille. Those bumpers are for the '69 too. The '70 bumpers have the grille/headlight surround molded to the front and the rear has the rear grille and tail light surrounds molded to it. *NM*
        • Those parts are present because this chrome shot originated in the longnose '69 funny car kit. *NM*
          • Ahhhh.... so - would "Mach Won" be a standard wheelbase version of the long nose chassis?

              • I was building aircraft/armor/ships when that was new - the cover art was fantastic but never bought it
                • When that selloff begins and you're tempted, be careful to get a clear view of the chrome trees; I've seen kits from that era with dulled original chrome, including at least one Mach Won. *NM*

        • Interesting... the instructions do show the '69 as having support posts at the back and the '70 without. Placing '69 and '70 bodies side by side shows them nearly identical in measurements... *NM* *PIC*

              • The F/C has separately molded pans for the front and rear IIRC. *NM*
                • They had to recycle those from the '69 kit as the front valance was now included with the stock '70 chassis *PIC*

              • Longnose body was (then) new, but obviously designed to reuse the '69 trim pieces. I can’t see a need for two '69 tools; there were some '69 promos but not very many *NM*

          • The 007 Mustang was probably sold as AMT to be consistent with the already-issued '70 Galaxie. That probably affected the non-007 Mustang also *NM*

  • UPDATE: Checked my stash and the interior shells for '69 and '70 are a direct interchange
    • Maybe after this release, they can clone the parts necessary for a stock issue. *NM*
      • On the other board, Steven G said that was a possibility once the Mach Won kit has run it's course. Looks like they "MAY" have all the necessary parts already, but that's just a guess based on his posts. *NM*
        • Will see Steve in November, hopefully...
