Haven't looked at the manual, They didn't put it in writing anywhere that I refused the treatment . That's a good point to consider though. *NM*

Off topic, Prolly get as many opinions as answers, but do oil additives like STP really do anything?
I use Lucas oil additive now and then because of high mileage.
Most of them just settle to the bottom of the oil pan and lay there until the next oil change *NM*
With the oil pickup almost touching the bottom of the sump, that's not realistic. But to answer the original question, no they are not needed and could do more harm than good on a modern engine. Many have extended oil change intervals to 10,000 miles due to the superiority
Money would be better spent on more frequent oil changes, especially with undersize engines crutched up with a turbo, also engines with the incredibly stupid "wet belt" setup *NM*
Only use it as a crutch to support an engine near the end of its life cycle. *NM*
Thanks for the responses, I not really considering it on either of my vehicles, both have less than 30 K on the odometer, but I am considering injector cleaners.

Keep in mind some of the services that delerships "recommend" are not in the factory service schedule, like "flushes" and fuel injector cleaners.

Not sure what brand the car is, but if you still have the owner's manual, there is Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 (for GM cars/trucks, at least)
Thanks for the info, It is indeed a GM product, I'll look at the owners manual tomorrow.
Flat / Dolly tow was a deal with our GMC clients - the last-gen Colorado/Canyon could do it easily *NM*
