Wow! I'd be ashamed to put out a product like that. Guess some people aren't. *NM*
Since there is only one plating service left, you pretty much told us who it is. Those pics look bad. Since I was planning on sending some parts soon, but after seeing this, I guess not. *NM*
There’s another plating service I found on Facebook a while back that took model parts on a limited basis. Hopefully they still do that. *NM*
Have you talked to "the plater" about making it right? If it's who I assume it is, and there's really only the one plater left, I've talked to him on several occasions and he seems to be a good guy. Mistakes happen to everyone. *NM*
I’m sure he’s a good guy, and I know he probably would like to retire in the not too distant future. I’m not going to bother him, I just won’t go there again. I’m more upset about the work I put into mounting and arranging the parts than I am the money. *NM*
Hmmm... how were the parts prepared - did they all look like this? *NM*
All the racks look the same. I stripped all the parts clean of chrome and basecoat, and cleaned them grease/fingerprint free *NM*
They look great,.... if you're building a beater! Or maybe a junkyard scene.... *NM*
I'd be upset to say the least. Your hard earned money wasted. I would still contact the vendor. You should get a full refund. Those are down right hideous. If I were that person, I'd be ashamed to have let an "escape" get to the customer.
Don't dismount them from the frames until you talk to the plater. He may be able to put a "finish coat" on them as is if it is just the sheen and not misshaping the parts. Send him those pics. Worth a shot if he will cooperate. *NM*
There are some areas where it lookslike the plating wrinkled up in several spots on the parts. Those won’t go away with another top coat on the parts. *NM*
I did not look closely enough to notice that. Maybe smooth out those areas where it is accessible with them still in the frames and send them back? *NM*
Do you happen to have any pictures showing the parts before you sent them, but after you prepared them? That might be helpful when you talk to the plater... *NM*
Yikes. *NM*
Why would they send it back like that if they cared about their work? *NM*
