Thanks, think you and Chipster may have figured it out, yes, I painted testors gold over the foil and the gold pigment in it may be reacting with the foil. And yes its a model of one the short track cars my family crewed/sponsored when I was a kid, a short track 61 Starliner *PIC*

This is a first for me-packing up some old builds and came upon one with a pile of "dust" on the upper rear quarter panel where the c pillar meets-looking closer I see a 1/4" or so section of where I had foiled the C pillar and it has just disintegrated away the rest of

Just a thought, sort of looks like the issue is happening inside outward, between the foil and paint, in the paint, or on the plastic under the paint, sort of looks like there's some crinkling in the adjacent paint *NM*
Can't say that I've ever seen this before, though I do have a bunch of older builds/partial builds in boxes that I haven't looked at in many years. Some day I'll dig them out and have a look.
