IIRC, BMF is aluminum foil? Could it be corrosion? Could it have been in contact with something that had some copper or steel content (i.e. galvanic corrosion)? Just a guess.

On a positive note, it looks like a cool build. Short track Starliner?

  - Just a thought, sort of looks like the issue is happening inside outward, between the foil and paint, in the paint, or on the plastic under the paint, sort of looks like there's some crinkling in the adjacent paint *NM*

  - Thanks, think you and Chipster may have figured it out, yes, I painted testors gold over the foil and the gold pigment in it may be reacting with the foil. And yes its a model of one the short track cars my family crewed/sponsored when I was a kid, a short track 61 Starliner *PIC*
