  • Thanks for posting the link to the build review Tim. If you soak the tires in some hot tap water for a few minutes, they will stretch over the wheel tabs easily. *NM*

    • Curb..can you explain further? If it is about the stiff tires and big wheel flanges, one minute with a sprue cutter solves the issues by cutting down the flanges. I'm pretty sure Round 2 will fix that on the next release, too...but why wait? Thx..TB *NM*
      • Yes, the wheel flanges can be cut off. I did that with the Revell Bronco when it first came out. Then added a thin strip of styrene for the wheel lip. Easy to do. *NM*
  • Great review. What exactly is that on top of the engine? Also, is that the carburetor mounted off to the side of the engine? Pic from Finescale.com. *PIC*
    • Kinda looks like a centrifugal blower, with the plenum box on top of the engine. *NM*
      • It's an aftermarket supercharger setup. You can also opt for the 3x2 intake and carbs, also aftermarket. There is no stock intake or carb in this kit. *NM*
        • Since it is the venerable Y-Block 292, there are several in scale that can donate parts to the cause of accuracy
    • The item on top of the engine is the blower pressure box. Yes, the carb sits just behind the centrifugal blower on the lower front passenger side of the engine. I provided a stand-alone engine and finished interior shots but they did not use 'em; I will post here later..... *NM*

    • The moeb chassis is obviously different because it represents the '65-'79 split I-beam assembly. The earlier chassis with the regular I-beam front axle has roots going back to the mid-fifties F100s. *NM*
    • Would you believe that I already have such a conversion underway? Biggest issue is shortening the wheelbase, second biggest is changes to the body to accomodate the 1965 and later Twin I Beam suspension. But it can be done. A more factory correct approach might be...
      • Was the '53 chassis common out to Twin I-Beam? What about 4WD or was that not factory until later? *NM*
        • Bob...I have read elsewhere in the modeling interweb that the 2wd chassis were similar (frame and suspension) from '53 (and possibly earlier) through '64, but Ford always made detail improvements over the years, so I would bet they could not be considered identical...TB *NM*

    • I don't really care about anything being factory correct. The Moebius chassis is more detailed for what I wanted to do at the time.
  • Beautifully finished Tim. Nice to see this one get it's due with the finessing of the original design removing the various, um, 'assymetricities' that slightly marred it before. AMT captured the proportions beautifully; in fact, it's a good master for fixing the moeb truck..
