• COUPLE MORE CHEVELLES.... These are part of that group of bodies I cleared the other day. The clear doesn't stink so I was able to do several cars and bring them in the house. PIX and thanks for looking

  • Nice job! Re: chrome wheels on front… I recall years ago when I did a little racing that the guys with chrome wheels on front would put some wax or shoe polish on them to dull them down because the reflective properties of the chrome would mess with the timing light beams.
    • Hmm never thought about that... This was an old street look from back in late 60's early 70's. Mostly cause the steel wheel in rear were cheap for part time wheels use. Makes sense but how about cars and Cragars up front. Still makes sense what you said. *NM*
      • As I think about it a little more, I think it was an issue with the flatter style wheels like the old Weld Wheels or chrome Centerlines. Now I'm wishing that I had asked more questions back then... :-) *NM*
        • It's a light beam...it's desirable for the wheel to block it. It's dragsters and cycles that have trouble with it...notice that most dragster wheels have a partial disc added to one side to break the beam *NM*

    • Hmmm.... In all the years that I spent at the dragstrip, never heard that one.... A lot of the guys that drove their cars to the track would swap to slicks mounted on painted steelies once they got to the track. *NM*
      • Yeah, I don't know. This is just what I saw at my local track... which doesn't even exist anymore. Maybe it was specific to their equipment. IIRC, staging was established by breaking a beam, and that the chrome could mess with that somehow?
        • Sometimes tone doesn't translate well through the typed word... I didn't think that you were being critical. My response was more a point of curiosity, as I had never experienced what you did. *NM*
