Yeah, I don't know. This is just what I saw at my local track... which doesn't even exist anymore. Maybe it was specific to their equipment. IIRC, staging was established by breaking a beam, and that the chrome could mess with that somehow?

I ran aluminum wheels so didn't have any issues. I saw some guys with chrome wheels with stuff rubbed on and asked why they did it, and that was the answer I got. I'm thinking track officials told them to do it, but that was 40 years ago, so the memories aren't as sharp as they used to be.

So, I'm probably full of it. The chrome wheels look great, and per your experience are an authentic look.

Just so it's clear, I wasn't criticizing the build, I just remembered this tidbit, and wondered if that's why the 1:1 had black wheels on front and chrome wheels on back. Probably, though, it's just what he had.
