Some local dirt track racer named Dale Earnhardt helped them . First Kit Car wore a Challenger body. Buddy Baker drove the Dart Sport Kit Car that Car and Driver had built.

Legend has it that the car was actually run at the 24 Hours of Daytona, but Baker pulled into the pits due to mechanical issues. When the car was fixed, he was nowhere to be found. He figured the car was broken beyond repair, so he left the track....

Mopar Action magazine did a story on the history of the Kit Car program many years ago, and there are photos of Dale at the track with the Challenger and Chrysler engineers.
