In Response To: I'd bet most restored cars have different frames, altered from stock by duplicating the holes. Nobody involved with those cars thought anyone would care about them longer than a year or two *NM* ()

They could have spaced them out just a little bit more, and bell-mouthed the holes. Bell-mouthing addds no weight, but adds a lot of strength.

  - Before the "swiss cheese" frame, Pontiac attempted an aluminum one. One survives (though not used long); it was covered in one of the Pontiac magazines *NM*

      - Short answer: They didn't.
        
        Whichever make/model we care to reference..."of the 50 originally built, approximately 125 exist today" *NM*
        
        The Galaxie is a hard one to fake - but I'm sure there have been some 'miraculous restorations'
