• What do you think of buying a nice to decent promo to use in a project. Like a Thunderbird just to use the body for a project (ie. custom, drag, or lowrider)? *NM*

  • If you have not bought yet I would suggest instead of buying a promo, which are sought by collectors and limited in number, that since all you want is a body you find an incomplete or built, or just cheap Thunderbird kit. Probably cost less and help a promo survive. ;^) *NM*
    • I agree. I've picked up a few re-builder Thunderbirds over the last few years and don't think I've paid much more then a regular new AMT kit for any of them. Easier to work on then a promo too. , , ,[PICS]

  • I personally wouldn't do it, but there is nothing worse than someone telling you what you can do with your money or personal property.

    • The problem with the AMT '62 Thunderbird is that the kit is a roadster/convertible. Not exactly what I had in mind for my project. Unless it comes with a hardtop... *NM*

  • People do do it, though be aware that older promos may be molded in warpy plastic which doesn't act like styrene. *NM*
    • Also, they can be brittle due to their age which can be a problem. *NM*
