Seems to be general policy now. *NM*

Doh. I should have realized. Recently when clicking "watch on You Tube for full screen video" on a small news item, YT says they do not allow ad blockers and would not show the full screen video. I use AdBlock+. Is that just me or general policy now? *NM*

I've noticed a number of people posting "don't use Facebook". Why I ask? Curiosity got the best of me. *NM*
Because I despise liars, fakes and two faced people. *NM*
I run into those kind of people just in my daily life. *NM*
Good point. Lot of them around. *NM*
Using FB, you're inviting them into your life.... I'm much more selective than that. *NM*
Heard of too many people getting hacked through there and from what I've seen of it from people who use it not much to interest me. *NM*
As a retired Senior Computer Systems Analyst of 25 years.......
What settings do you recommend if someone does use Facebook? I only have actual persons I know as friends, mainly family members. I do belong to just a few groups, my old hometown history, a couple on model cars, etc. I did use marketplace to buy a bookcase
I can only say......... *PIC*
Thank you, but what is YT? *NM*
Sorry ....Youtube.....thx *NM*

Seems to be general policy now. *NM*
I love Facebook for model sites, no personal info and I've never been hacked, on FB for over 20 years! *NM*
I do not understand why so many people think 'hacking' is such a risk on FB.......
I use it. It's a great modelling community. I prefer Instagram though. *NM*
YEP!!
Instagram is owned by Meta, Facebook's owner. Both have a lot of good model content. *NM*
Also, there a number of resin and 3D printing vendors that are only available through Facebook, so it's good to be on there to do business with them. *NM*
An IPMS chapter I'm a member of by distance (hometown club, where I don't live anymore) reently pulled the plug on its website in favor of a FB page. Don't know why yet. *NM*
Quality web development and maintenance is a full time occupation - FB is no shining star but a lot easier and farther reaching *NM*
FaceBook? I've never been a member. I don't use any social media. *NM*
Forums like this are part of "social media". *NM*
In a broader sense, I suppose, but forums like this do not exist to mine your data. Huge difference, IMHO. *NM*
And forums like this have been around long before "social media". *NM*
Correct. Forums, usergroups, etc which existed before MySpace, Facebook, and the other platforms are social media
Technicalities aside, it should be pretty clear that this site is very different from Facebook, the site formerly known as twitter, Reddit, instagram, etc. I think this is the point that many are trying to make. *NM*
It seems to me there have been those who preferred not to join clubs as well. *NM*
Back in the day of car clubs and motorcycle clubs, people who weren't members of any club were known as a "lone wolf". This reminds me of a quote from Groucho Marx"....
I've been known to say that I'd like to join the Optimists Club....... But I doubt that they'd accept me! *NM*
Me. I don't join anything. Last time I "joined", it was the U.S. Navy, and I wound up over seas. *NM*
I look at, follow or have joined almost 200 FB groups. Most all are model or 1:1 car related. I learn something interesting every day. In Sept. I had weight loss surgery. Without the support & advice of two men's-only bariatric FB groups, this journey would be a lot harder. *NM*
My VERY last post on Facebook ever.......
I was responding to Rich’s post. *NM*
Not aimed at you.....all the posts overall.....thx *NM*
