  • Yes, "reducer" probably costs more but is probably more tailored to spraying. "Thinner" is more general purpose IMO *NM*
  • Basically, reducers are used for enamel paints while thinners are used for lacquers. The solvents are not interchangeable. Using reducer in lacquer paint typically results in a gooey mess. I've used thinner in enamel paints with good results, but normally stick with reducer. *NM*

    • I too have used lacquer thinner in enamel paints which helps the enamel to dry quicker...but this is in 1:1 scale car painting, acetone/lacquer thinner on a plastic kit is you use thin,dry coats & think positive thoughts........lol. *NM*
