Thoughts on shows and curbside kits? --
I thought at one time I knew the answer......
I don't know what kind of contests you guys have been encountering, but the ones we run are simple.
Wouldn't Curbside be outside and interior and Slammer be blacked out windows basically a paint job. At least all the ones I've been at. Maybe it's a regional thing. *NM*
Semantics. Again, look to whomever is putting on a given show and get their "official" definition, IMHO. *NM*
I understand the concern, but this curbside Tamiya got 1st place in its class at a show. I did include photos of the detail I did on the interior and other parts (It was a judged show not NNL or popular choice) *NM* *PIC*
Hmmmm....with Round2 re-issuing the 64 Olds, 65 GTO, 68 GTO, Chevy II wagon, and others as essentially curbside kits, it would seem to me that this may be a bigger problem in the future for contest promotors . *NM*
Well I've been to a whole lot of shows and the ones I've attended always had a curbside or slammer class. Sometimes if the numbers are down they would combine them. But think of this the less you have to judge the less points taken away. *NM*
A lot of the modern subjects have the engine buried under a giant plastic trash can lid
"Trash can lid". LOL. *NM*
I agree. The main thing is judging a car with an engine as the better built car against a model that does not have one. In most cases I think the engine kit would win unfortunately. *NM*
I am so glad that I don't give a crap about winning any trophies.... I'd rather just have someone tell me that they really like my model. *NM*
I agree, in fact, I've never entered a contest. I get there early usually, walk around the display tables and the swap meet area and I'm almost always out of there by lunch time. *NM*
