• Am I the only one who enjoys the AMT Modified Stockers?
  • I have bought each one and they are pretty cool. Seems silly to complain about a modified tool that was done 30 years ago. As for tires just change them if you don’t like them. I have heard some cars used ones like those but easy enough to fix. *NM*

  • I like ‘em a lot! While the tires do look large I have seen pics of local short track cars with similar tires around 1970-ish. I think they later changed the rules to keep costs down (my local track had a street tire rule so more people could afford to run cars each week) *NM*

    • Don't have a favorite--have all of them except the '65 GTO. Got the reissued Skylark and the Farilane when AMT reissued them a few years ago.

      • But in those other cases, at least the final year still exists in stock form. Most of the Modified Stocker kits hadn't sold well in the reissues just prior, but nobody remembers that now *NM*
    • I'm thinking they were a better option than the tools being sold for scrap because the stock version wasn't considered profitable enough to reissue. Don't know if that would have happened or not, but the ones considered viable were returned to stock or stock-ish eventually.
      • The issues just prior didn't sell that well. I remember buying prior issue Fairlane and Olds 88 kits at closeout prices AFTER the Modified Stockers hit store shelves *NM*
        • That makes sense as the Fairlane and 88 would have just been considered used cars at the time, like trying to sell a model of a 2014 Camry or Malibu today… *NM*
