Is it for a Monogram 1/24, or one of the 1/25 A's ?

A family friend in the neighborhood was trying to work a deal for a 1:1 - but his interest triggered the owner into "restoring" it at a local shop (this was the early '70s) which resulted in pebbly enamel painting over the beautifully patina'd original Dearborn finish, and putting clodhopper seat covers where the original, slightly worn fabric was, then flinging the J.C. Whitney catalog at it for all manner of non-original doo dads.

When he told the story, I could almost see tears in his eyes. He usually carried enough cash on his buying trips to make it rain in a champagne room, too. So, it wasn't a question of the money.

Oh well...
