Wife and I just came back from a New Year's party and the Royal Canadian Legion in our village. We've been here 38 years this Spring and we STILL have people asking us where we're from... LOL I guess we'll ALWAYS be from AWAY!!! *NM*
BTW... Happy New Year everyone!!! *NM*
Just some random pics to finish the year off.....pics.....
Jeez Dave, I'd forgotten that many guys from the "Meetin's" had passed, Sad. *NM*
Yes, that was a sobering picture... *NM*
Didn't know that Robert Antonucci had passed. *NM*
Nice to see the picture of Albert...was thinkin' about him earlier this year while working on a '62 Pontiac project *NM*
Just for fun... An old build from a few years back, and my first experimentation with my Paasche double-action airbrush. *PIC*
That really has a custom show vibe to it. I like it. *NM*
One of my fav's *NM*
Ooooo.... *NM*
Wow, that looks real *NM*
chrome plating services?
Decent alternatives are Spaz Stix spray chrome and Molotow. I've airbrushed Molotow with good results, haven't tested the Spaz Stix yet. *NM*
Begs the question if Alclad or similar products caused their demise? *NM*
Re: Begs the question if Alclad or similar products caused their demise?
I think the cost, less commercial biz offering vac plating and labor/risk caused the demise ..IMHO
Little Motor Kar Co. has most definitely NOT closed...*2 PICS* and... *LINK*
Man, that is good to know! I have a bunch of 1/8 scale I'd really like to get plated. *NM*
I certainly hope Dale's not closed up shop, I just sent him a couple racks of parts for re-plating a couple weeks ago. LOL *NM*
Thanks, John. I'd emailed Dale a couple of weeks ago and hadn't heard back. That, plus some forum posts from 2019 which hinted he might retire...
As Mark twain reputedly said, “The report of my death has been grossly exaggerated.” *NM*
Look up Superior Chrome on Facebook. They’re an automotive plating service that just moved into model car plating. I’m waiting to see how well they’ve done for others, but it looks promising. *NM*
Re: Superior Chrome -- Thanks, Ed! *NM*
A little work done on the 1/1 kit of my 23 Ford........ *PIC*
Looks like you've got a great start. Must be nice to work with bolts instead of super glue and clamps! *NM*
Bolts and metal are different...but I got the same satisfaction.......until I get to something hard!!!! *NM*
Getting there but is it possible to lengthen that Panhard Bar by using a shorter axle bracket closer to the passenger lower shock mount & angling the frame mount under the frame....they work best if long & horizontal, which reduces the "leverage". *NM*
2022 LINE UP.... Had me shaking my head, would have never thunk this many. PIX and thanks for looking. HAVE A JOYOUS AND SAFE NEW YEAR.
They're all nice Frank, but I love that BLACK BLACK BLACK '56 Chevy. Gotta build me one of those. *NM*
I put an LS in that one. *NM*
FORGOT these two. PIX
I thought you did more, good looking lineup hard to pick a favorite. *NM*
You had a great year of building Frank. All wonderful builds. *NM*
PIF AMTs The Racers Edge race car hauler bed (no tools), still in the bag. *NM*
If it's still available, I could use this, *NM*
You got it, I'll get it out early next week, and got your address. *NM*
My modeling year in review. Not very prolific, as usual, cuz I start way more builds than I finish. *PIC*
Love it!! *NM*
Really like how you used the colors on it. *NM*
Thanks, guys! *NM*
That is SWEET! It inspires me to buy a kit that I would normally take a pass on and do similar kit bashing and upgrades. *NM*
Nicely done and love how the flames look 3-dimensional. *NM*
Thanks! The flames are just decals from the Revell '32 5W coupe, but I integrated them into the paint scheme using a color that matches the decals. *NM*
Now I can say have a Safe and Happy New Years Eve and then of course a Great and Properous New Year. *NM*
Terry, I finally got your trunk lid mailed. *NM*
Thanks, there is no rush. Again, thanks! *NM*
Heads up for video content: Adam Savage does a review of an excellent and affordable vacuform machine! *LINK*
I've got one, bought it back when they were under $100. Beats messing with those old Mattel machines that don't really heat up enough *NM*
my unit is homemade. Scape plexglass vacuum box with tube silicone bead for a seal, scrap plywood cut to fit over the seal make up the basic unit, with the emphasis being on basic. Worn out crevice tool was cut down to make the port where the Kenmore hose goes.
I've had one of these for years.
I had been looking at those for a long while now... I have two vacuum pumps waiting in the wings to build my own vacu-former... I also bought a Mattel Vacu-Former a few years back. It's a "hot rodded" version in that it has better parts but basically still the same uint...
I have a toy vac machine that's almost useless for hobby projects.
Miscellaneous Mopar Madness *PICS*
Forgot how good those LRW Dodges look Pro Street, wish I hadn't gotten ride of my reissue years ago *NM*
Does anybody resin cast the Hubcaps (Wheelcovers) from that Dodge/Fargo "Captain Pickup"?
MPC put those in the kits through 1975 *NM*
MPC Wheel covers. Are those the ones in the Clear Car Trailer kit?
The trailer wheel covers are '65 Coronet pieces *NM*
I've been hoping for a set of wheel covers like the ones on the Challenger Deputy.
I've been wanting those too because I also want to build the 1970 Coronet that I had, as it came from the factory. I'm hoping that Fireball will get to them. They have made several MOPAR wheel covers. *NM*
Those Dodge hubcaps are on Shapeways…. *LINK*
Thanks Bill for those great Mopar pics. Did you take the one at Graveyard Cars? I watched recently them build all three of those on TV. *NM*
I didn't take the pic. But it is at Graveyar Carz. *NM*
WOW! Two Volare's! Works for me! *NM*
Did Revell kit the GMC Typhoon? I know they did the Syclone. *NM*
They also did the S10. Did they produce the S10 Blazer? *NM*
They didn't do the Blazer or the Typhoon. *NM*
Thanks *NM*
The Typhoon was done in resin. *NM*
There are a couple folks who have done an S10 Blazer body that can be used with a Syclone kit to make a Typhoon. The body kit will take some finessing, due to the different body types, I hope to build one someday. *NM*
Last one for 2022.... Friday Evening Randomness..... ENJOY!!!! *PICS*
Great selection for the last one of the year,, Marty! Thanks for a fantastic year of Friday Evening Randomness. *NM*
Who knew you could get so many wheels under a Christmas tree..aka...that truck :) Thanks for the great pictures and Happy New Year *NM*
YES-SUR-RE (not sure on spelling but you get it) To all have a safe and happy new year...... I'm liking on that 58 Vette and what appears to be 73 Vette I'd have to see the rear to know. *NM*
Thanks Marty for a spectacular end of year, of Friday Night Randomness! *NM*
That Nash gasser is a hoot! *NM*
Good selection. I was just talking about that Rick Hanmore model today. Say the devlil's name... *NM*
Someone needs to find the Revell Sunbird tooling and reissue it, would make a great Pro Touring or even a vintage style wide tire/flare setup *NM*
thanks Marty hoping you have a Happy New Year. craig cochran *NM*
We made it! *NM* *PIC*
Re: Thanks for another great Friday And thios one even has One of my Falcons in it the red one *NM*
Question about 3 D printed parts....
A body I had was flexible enough to twist - while an engine and some wheels I ordered were hard and brittle.
Pic of one of the bodies - *NM* *PIC*
Pic of the engine - *NM* *PIC*
Pic of 3D stuff *PIC*
If you can't find the answer here, there might not be an answer... *NM* *LINK*
So, in my quest for info on buying a 3D printer, I think the answer is it depends. I have purchased items from several vendors and noticed varying differences in eveything from rigidity, to print smoothness. I would suggest finding someone who may have purchased product from
How accurate (or not) is the Jo-han Sox & Martin kit to build as a S&M "The Boss" Cuda? *NM*
It's pretty good actually...
*Pics* in the above post. *NM*
I've got the Testors HSO version, your build makes me want to add it to the pile........BTW how did you do those twin plug leads?......very impressive. *NM*
Thank You. *NM*
The valve covers and magnetos are drilled out and wired with Detail Master ignition wire. *NM*
IMO, bash the excellent JoHan body with the more detailed Revell '70 (new tool)
As long as one remember that the 1970 was pretty much a stock bodied car with a stock engine compartment, the 1971 cars were built more freely and the engine compartment with fire wall and inner fenders were fabricated by S&M among other things. *NM*
Nice! Kicking myself for not grabbing a couple of them when they were relatively plentiful and cheap... *NM*
in my opinion one of the best early prostock cars done *NM*
