I'd recommend going to paintref.com's '68 GTO list (LINK INSIDE), which includes links to GTOs in those colors, and then once you find the color you want, check it against Duplicolor (for metallics) or Testors/Tamiya/Krylon/Rustoleum to see what comes close... *NM* *LINK*

Mayfair Maize is a kind of yellow- what color is that Firebird? I like it! *NM*
I've been doing some looking and I'd say that color is......................... *PIC*
Autumn Bronze, that's it. I typed the wrong color. *NM*
I love that in Autumn Bronze. It looks good with either black or white interior, possibly even parchment. *NM*
There were usually spring colors - might be worth checking
