That’s where I was in 1993, when I bought my first Mustang, a 5.0 LX coupe with 5-speed manual.

I was a big fan of old Mopars, and wanted to buy a new car with V8, rear wheel drive, and manual transmission. The GM F-bodies were bigger, heavier, and much more expensive. Mopar was deep into 4 cylinder FWD at the time, so there was only one logical choice for me. That little LX became my favourite car of all the 40 - 50 I’ve owned over the years. Sadly I sold it around the turn of the century as I needed something more “practical” at the time.

The story improves later on as I eventually hooked up with a nice used low mileage ‘06 GT which I still have to this day.

I’m in agreement on the modern Mopar ‘muscle’ being too big and too heavy. I’m glad that they made them, though.

Also glad that I was fortunate enough to grow up in the era that I did. Kids of the future will only know that horrific whine of electric motors winding up, and not the sweet sound that only a V8 can provide…
