Spotlight Hobbies

Hagerty Driver's Club magazine did a recent story on the history of the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild annual contests. *LINK*

Hagerty as in the insurance company. It started a magazine several years ago for their customers, that covers the classic car hobby/culture. Hired some former Car and Driver staffers to run it. Guest columnists include Wayne Carini and Jay Leno.

I'm not a Hagerty client. A former fellow member of the North Texas Mustang Club ran a Hagerty-affiliated insurance agency, and she handed out "leftover" HDC issues at car shows, where I used to pick the interesting issues up. She disappeared or quit hew membership, so a current club member dumps his issues at club meetings now.

Anyhoo, fascinating history. Photos of old models, where to see museum collections of old FBCG entries, and why the contest ended.
