For a nice civilian Jeep, what does everyone think of Monogram's kit? *NM*

Just an observation. Seems many Jeep builders have used the Italeri 1/24 kit. Do any of you use other sources. My favorite Jeep kits are 1/24 Hasegawa & 1/25 MPC/AMT. *NM*

I'll answer this way. I have 55 Jeep kits (approx) and don't own any Monogram Jeep kits. *NM*
Could it be you're a scale bigot? 😆😅 *NM*
I think the Monogram Jeep CJ-7s were perhaps the best designed and tooled kits from their late 1970s kit development period. I recognize others will certainly see this differently....TB *NM* *LINK* *PIC*
I was wondering the same thing, and don’t care whether it’s 1:24 or 1:25. I want to build a replica of the CJ-7 my brother had back in the day, so I decided to buy the newly re-released Monogram kit, since the Round 2 kit is CJ-5ish. Don’t know if it’s the best…
Twenty of my Jeep kits are 1/24 so that's not it. I'm just a discerning kit purchaser. By the way Mark C., do you have a photo of your brother's CJ-7? *NM*
I don't have one at hand. I'll have to dig into my old photos or ask him if he has any. It was a medium metallic blue (Brilliant Blue?) with white soft top, 6 cyl, 3-speed manual, and nothing else. No stripe package or anything. *NM*
I'm curious, what would your choice be for a mid-1970s civilian CJ-7 kit in 24th or 25th? I don't see much out there that isn't military. *NM*
Please excuse LARGE photos. For a civilian CJ-7 I'd start with a Revell Snap Kit #6209. I'd use an inline 6 cylinder from MPC Pacer & 1/35 Ural Truck tires.....PHOTOS
That looks good. When was the last time it was available? Thanks for posting the pics. *NM*
Mine were purchased in the 80s. I have no idea when they were last on the store shelves. I've seen them for resale online. *NM*
Thanks! I'll see what I can do with the Monogram/Revell one I just purchased. One of many projects in the plans. *NM*
Oh, and I should have called it a Revell kit, but y'all knew what I meant... ;-) *NM*
It's not a bad kit. I had a little fun with this one. *PIC*
That looks great, Terry! I’m not a Jeep expert, but I can’t pick out any flaws with it. You’ve captured the look perfectly, especially with the wheels and tires. *NM*
The only knock I have heard against MPC's kit is the lack of military style tires. But there are 1/32 scale 6 X 6 tires that will work for that. Hasegawa's kit is great, the Italeri one ain't bad either *NM*
I wrote a whole book on model Jeeps *PIC*
Cool book! The Monogram kit was a 19C 304 V8 with reasonable detaill and realism for the era. Kit has been reissued several times and I highly recommend it...TB *NM*
err....that should read "AMC" 304 V8... *NM*
