The bigger issue is managing the fits, which were dodgy on day one in kits that were not first a promos... which literally had to snap together let the assembly line grind to a halt at MPC or AMT. But, that's why it is called modeling and not assembling...

FWIW on '70-vs-71, I also have a mockup of the old MLRC '70 Cougar convertible. Used the "73" chassis. With engine compartment fixed in place, it sits fractionally forward of where the '70 annual did in relation to the cowl.

Doubting that it is resin shrinkage, it is in the white we used practically from the jump that is an industrial brand. Guessing MPC may have extended a whisker, but it has been forever since I looked in the box.
