It happens anywhere the metal is not protected and moisture can linger

The online auctions and Craigslist/Marketplace ads are full of coastal cars that were too close to the morning sea mist for too long. They rot from the inside out, and it is usually terminal.

Midwest cars rot from the bottom up, the salt and dirt do their dirty work as soon as a few drain holes plug with leaves, pine needles, maple seeds, etc, etc.

Western/SW cars get blistered from the sun literally burning the paint away from the exposed surfaces. Throw a tarp over one, and it becomes an inverse "cowboy well" like we made in scouts by digging a hole and putting a tarp over it to collect the evaporation.

The graining might be a touch heavy, but you are learning instead of kibitzing like the rest of us. Keep it up and let's see that go all the way!
