Yes, the “916” is based off the second tool that had the T-tops open. The solid top version was eventually updated to the ‘79-‘81. *NM*

Back in the day the '77 "Blackbird" T/A was one of MPCs best selling kits. To keep up with demand they cut a second tooling that has the T-tops open. That's why we have a '77 T-top and a '79-'81 solid top kit today. *NM*

Question: This was probably asked when it first came out. MPC kit 916, 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Does the body have the t-top panels already molded open, or do you have to cut them out? *NM*
They were molded open. *NM*
I have one that has full roof, molded in black. I have a 76 Firebird same way.
