I was driving home around 9 pm one evening, heading dead south on a rural two lane blacktop (no interference from city lights).... I noticed a faint glow across the horizon that had me a bit puzzled. I had almost convinced myself that I was somehow seeing the glow from Rockford (over 50 miles away), when suddenly the light flashed as a greenish blue wave across the sky and back again....
It truly was an awesome sight!!!
I pulled to the side of the road, got out of my car and just watched the show for a few minutes, as did several other people. The glow faded away a few minutes later, but I will never forget just how awestruck I was in that moment!
