Perry's Resin did a 1/25 79-81 Chevy Malibu 2-door in resin years ago. I've seen a resin chassis, but not the body, at swap meets.

Is there a 1/24 79-81 Chevy Malibu available in plastic or resin? *NM*

Yes there is. In 2dr, 4dr and wagon versions. Check on Cults3d. *LINK*
I'm not sure if it is still available, but I believe this is from Bandit Resins. I backdated it to a 78 to replicate my wife's first new car. pics
IIRC, these were done by joining AMT's 1980 El Camino with the roof from the Revell 1981 Chevy Citation. Monogram also had a 1980 Citation in 1/24
I mastered this Malibu nearly 15 years ago. It was a huge success until other casters copied it. Original master is long gone. *NM*
Makes me wonder why MPC never did the ‘78+ Malibu. They basically had almost half of it done with the El Camino kit. *NM*
Simple. Because Chevy had promos of the Elcamino made and paid for them and didn't for the Malibu. *NM*
Yeah…I kinda figured that, but why didn’t GM/Chevrolet want the new Malibu made? It was still a good seller back then just like the El Camino. *NM*
Same goes for the downsized '77 Impala and Caprices. *NM*
They decided to do the Monte Carlo, El Camino and Monza (‘75+) instead. I guess they didn’t think the full sized cars would be popular with kids. *NM*

They did a wagon, too. It's pretty nice. *NM*
