Peppy? The stick cars, maybe. My mom had two ('80 and '81), both were pokey and weren't particularly good on gas either *NM*

39 mpg on the highway? No way, even if the stick car had OD (automatics had neither OD nor a lock-up converter) *NM*
I had an '86 Chevette for for 12 years, and ithe MPG would top out ot 26...downhill; with a tail wind!!
