Looks great from here! *NM*
It's nice to win a contest, but if it's one of your best, then you should be proud. It looks just fine to me! "Build for yourself" comes to mind. *NM*
You are exactly right. *NM*
Bill, as a child, I was bullied and made fun of because of my autism and being so short. Also and more damaging, my father was super critical of me and I did nothing right. He was so bad that I have PTSD because of him. So winning an award really has some meaning to me. *NM*
We all have our different motivations, so I hope you do well. Hope I run into you some day. *NM*
Bill, I live in Cincinnati, OH. I go to shows in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana that are no more than 2 1/2 hours from Cincinnati. Where do you live? I like meeting people from this board. *NM*
In Fort Worth. I feel like I know some guys here just from reading the board every day. So I know there are some good folks, and of course some excellent modelers.
I'm in Fort Worth, too. *NM*
Jason, at your convenience, would you email me off the board?
You don't by chance work for WKRP, do you? *NM*
Ya know, it would've been fun to work in a place like that. *NM*
They don't come any cleaner that that! *NM*
LOL !! I just noticed that the master cylinder fell off. It took me awhile, but I found it and it has been re installed. *NM*
SUPER!! I'd be thrilled to have that on my shelf. Congratulations! *NM*
Well Scott, the paint looks really good, your assembly is very clean, the black wash in the recessed areas is just right...can't see much wrong, friend. *NM*
Nice build fella! *NM*
Box stock is a rough class. When we judge here we can narrow it down to the three best pretty easy then the nit pickin starts, you can always find flaws. I think your weakness might be in some raggety edges of foil. This can easily be corrected with patience,The rubber part
looks great from here!! *NM*
Regardless, it's a very clean build! Good job! *NM*
Don't be so hard on yourself. I think it looks great. *NM*
Nice job! If you've got concerns, get some trusted critiques, fix anything you can, then take it to a contest, and give it a shot. In the meantime, looking forward to seeing what you've got planned next! *NM*
Scott, you've already got a great trophy by having the respect and affection of this forum. Your build looks excellent by the way. Very smooth and vibrant paint job. Enjoy your contest, and refuse to fret about anything. It's great to be able to share your work. *NM*
Looks great, Scott! Looking forward to seeing it (and you) soon. *NM*
Very Nice! *NM*
Really nice build. I can't think of anything that would have made it any better - if that's possible. :-) *NM*
Only thing I'd do is display it with the air cleaner installed. (because that carb is on backwards. Only time I've ever seen the choke in the rear is on some dual quad 427s)) *NM*
That may be true, you would know better than I would. But the shape of the tab on the bottom of the carb matches the shape of the depreesion in the intake so there's only one way to install the carb without sanding the bottom of the carb smooth. But I'll change it. *NM*
Wouldn't be the first time a moldmaker made a small boo-boo. *NM* *PIC*
While building this model, I noticed that it had 2 carbs included. I looked for a dual quad intake, but there isn't one. Maybe there was one at one time. *NM*
If it’s box stock, wouldn’t you have build it with the flaws or mistakes from the kit manufacturer? If you correct the carb, then it wouldn’t be box stock anymore. *NM*
Good point Mike. *NM*
If I understand it, box stock means build a stock version of the car using just the parts in the box. Turning the carb (or whatever step) is necessary to do that, especially if it is noticeable to accomplish that should be okay. After all, foil, paint, polish,
Scott, many moons ago, I won 3 out of the four contests I entered. Then I realized, I was building to "PLEASE" other people(to me, anyway). Got to be "not fun" anymore. I was noted for my "gorgeous" paint jobs. Now? I build for ME!! *NM*
Scott, that looks fantastic. I'd think anyone would be very proud to have a model turn out so great. *NM*
Good luck at the shows. Nice work for sure *NM*
Beautiful work Scott…as always!!! *NM*
Scott, If I'd built a box stock kit as well as your '67 Mercury Cyclone, I'd enter it in ANY contest in a heart beat with TREMENDOUS pride. Yours is an AMAZING build! *NM*
The paint job is superb. I agree, the BMF is a bit rough but really that is an easy fix if you are willing to redo it. The white stripe is not quite straight through its length. But that is an easy thing to be aware of next time as well. Keep on modeling! *NM*
Gorgeous build, beautiful glossy paint, looks dynamite Scott! *NM*
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL work!!! *NM*
